About the job
About Spectrolab Systems
Spectrolab Systems is the authorised Indian distributor for Specac (United Kingdom) and Harrick Scientific (USA) — global leaders in sample preparation and handling accessories for molecular spectroscopy. Specac has engineered precision FTIR and spectroscopy sampling systems since 1971.
We supply the ATR, transmission, diffuse reflectance, pelletising and specialist sampling accessories used by India's leading academic, research, forensic, pharmaceutical and industrial laboratories.
Spectrolab is part of a diversified group that includes Bruce Logistics, a licensed customs broking and freight-forwarding business to FMCG business (Beauty and Food) — giving us an import, compliance and delivery capability few competitors can match. We are now entering an ambitious growth phase: expanding our principal portfolio toward a complete “sampling solutions for every analytical technique” offering and building the team to drive it.
The Opportunity
This is a hybrid commercial-and-technical role for someone who understands analytical science and can sell it with credibility. You will own a territory end-to-end: generating demand, running product demonstrations, advising customers on the right sampling solution for their analytical problem, and closing orders across academic, government and industrial accounts.
It offers genuine ownership and direct access to the founder. We are not looking for people to fill a seat — we are looking for people to build a business with us.
Key Responsibilities
Technical & Application
● Understand customers' analytical challenges (FTIR, Raman, UV-Vis and related techniques) and recommend the appropriate Specac and Harrick sampling accessories.
● Conduct product demonstrations, application trials and technical presentations for researchers and laboratory heads.
● Provide pre-sales technical consultation and post-sales application support.
● Build and maintain deep product and application knowledge across the portfolio.
Sales & Business Development
● Own the full sales cycle in your assigned territory, from lead generation through to closure.
● Build and manage a qualified pipeline across research institutions, universities, forensic and regulatory labs, and industrial R&D.
● Achieve and exceed territory revenue targets.
● Develop long-term relationships with key accounts and decision-makers.
Institutional & Procurement
● Navigate institutional and government procurement, including GeM and tender participation.
● Coordinate import, delivery and installation with the group's logistics and compliance team.
● Maintain accurate CRM records, forecasts and reporting.
Who We're Looking For
Essential
● A degree in Chemistry, Physics, Analytical Chemistry, Instrumentation, Materials Science or a related scientific or engineering discipline.
● Working familiarity with spectroscopy or analytical instrumentation — or a demonstrable appetite to master it quickly.
● A commercial instinct: comfort with selling, negotiating and building relationships.
● Willingness to travel within your territory.
● Fluent English and strong communication skills.
We especially want to hear from
● Technical professionals — application scientists, service or support engineers, lab specialists — ready to move into a commercial role.
● Sales professionals from the analytical instruments, laboratory equipment or scientific consumables space, looking to go deeper technically.
● Self-starters who thrive on autonomy and ownership rather than close supervision.
Preferred (not essential)
● Prior experience selling FTIR, Raman or spectroscopy accessories, or laboratory instruments.
● An existing network within academic, research or industrial laboratories.
● Exposure to GeM, tenders or institutional procurement.
What We Offer
● Direct access to the founder and a real voice in how the business grows.
● Full ownership of your territory and accounts.
● A growing, multi-principal portfolio — not a single product line to sell.
● A clear path to grow with the business as it scales.
● The backing of an established group with strong logistics, import and compliance capability.
● Competitive fixed compensation plus performance-linked incentives.
