Role Description: Maxso is building its technical foundation from the ground up. We're looking for a Cloud Engineer to own and grow our AWS infrastructure — from account architecture and security to CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure-as-code — as we scale from an early-stage setup into a production-grade environment
Responsibilities:
- Design, implement, and maintain AWS infrastructure using Infrastructure-as-Code (Terraform or equivalent).
- Manage IAM roles, permissions, and access policies following least-privilege principles.
- Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions or equivalent) for automated testing, builds, and deployments.
- Monitor cloud costs, set up billing alerts, and optimize spend without compromising reliability.
- Implement and maintain observability: logging, monitoring, and alerting for production systems.
- Manage account structure (dev/staging/prod separation) and enforce security best practices (MFA, secrets management, encryption).
- Collaborate with developers to ensure infrastructure supports application requirements without becoming a bottleneck.
- Document infrastructure decisions, runbooks, and architecture for team-wide visibility and onboarding. Participate in incident response and post-incident reviews for infrastructure-related issues
Qualifications:
- 2+ years of hands-on experience with AWS (or another major cloud provider) in a production environment.
- Working knowledge of Terraform, CloudFormation, or similar IaC tools.
- Experience with CI/CD tooling (GitHub Actions, Jenkins, CircleCI, or equivalent).
- Solid understanding of networking fundamentals, IAM, and cloud security best practices.
- Comfortable working with Docker and containerized deployments.
- Strong troubleshooting skills and ability to reason about system reliability and cost trade-offs.
- Clear written communication — able to document infrastructure decisions for a non-specialist audience.
Good to Have Skills:
- Experience setting up cloud infrastructure from scratch, not just maintaining an existing setup.
- Familiarity with monitoring/observability stacks (CloudWatch, Datadog, Grafana/Prometheus).
- Exposure to compliance or security frameworks (SOC 2, ISO 27001).
- Experience mentoring or training junior engineers on cloud practices.
