Job Title: Senior Credit Officer / Credit Analyst (Team Lead – Australian Mortgages)

About the Role:
Are you an experienced Credit Analyst / Senior Loan Processor with deep expertise in the Australian Mortgage Lending industry and a passion for mentoring others?
We are expanding our operations and looking for a high-performing Senior Credit Officer / Analyst to lead and support our dedicated back-office team of loan processing and customer support specialists. In this role, you will bridge the credit assessment accuracy with team leadership, ensuring seamless loan packaging, compliance, and fast turnarounds for Australian mortgage brokers and lenders.
This role requires a deep understanding of the Australian mortgage landscape, sharp attention to detail, and the ability to navigate complex lender requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Credit Assessment & Quality Assurance (QA):
- Prepare and generate essential compliance documents, including Credit proposals, Preliminary Assessments, Bank Comparisons, and FactFinds.
- Perform detailed serviceability calculations, living expense audits (HEM comparisons), and liability verifications.
- Verify compliance with Responsible Lending (NCCP Act) and specific Australian bank / non-bank credit policies.
- Ensure files submitted via ApplyOnline / Aggregator platforms are complete, compliant, and submission-ready.
2. Team Leadership & Workflow Management:
- Work collaboratively with a dedicated credit and customer care team to supporting the Principal Brokers in assisting clients navigate complex residential lending scenarios
- Allocate daily work queues, monitor turnaround times (TAT), and ensure SLAs are consistently met.
- Conduct regular file audits, error tracking, and continuous on-the-job training for team members.
- Act as the primary escalation point for complex lender credit policy queries and condition sign-offs.
- Liaise with Australian mortgage brokers, BDMs, credit assessors, and settlement teams to resolve credit queries and clear conditions quickly.
3.Operational Support:
· Provide direct support to business partners and brokers, ensuring clearcommunication and timely resolution of queries.
· Generate insurance quotes (General and Loan Protect) and communicate these to clients as part of the holistic service offering.
· Maintain and update CRM records to ensure accurate data management and client history.
Candidate Requirements & Qualifications:
- Experience: Minimum 4–6+ years of hands-on experience in Australian residential mortgage processing and credit assessment (Back-office / BPO / Broker support).
- Leadership Experience: At least 1–2 years of experience in a Team Lead, Senior Processor, or Subject Matter Expert (SME) role mentoring junior processors.
- Credit Knowledge: Strong understanding of Australian credit policies, product niches (Major 4, tier-2 banks, and non-conforming lenders), LVR/LMI requirements, and self-employed serviceability.
- Software Proficiency: Hands-on expertise with ApplyOnline (NextGen.Net) and broker CRM systems (e.g., Mercury, Podium, MyCRM, Salestrekker, BrokerEngine, etc.).
- Communication: Exceptional verbal and written English communication skills (Australian client interaction standard).
- Attention to Detail: High analytical acumen, problem-solving skills, and a zero-defect mindset in file auditing.
