A Diesel Generator Service Engineer is responsible for the commissioning, preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, and testing of diesel generator sets. The role involves ensuring reliable operation of DG systems, minimizing downtime, and providing technical support to customers.
Key Responsibilities
- Commission diesel generator sets at customer sites.
- Perform preventive and breakdown maintenance of DG sets.
- Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, and control system faults.
- Inspect engines, alternators, batteries, fuel systems, cooling systems, and control panels.
- Conduct load testing and performance checks.
- Attend emergency service calls and resolve customer complaints promptly.
- Maintain service records, maintenance reports, and job completion documents.
- Coordinate with customers, vendors, and internal teams regarding service activities.
- Ensure compliance with safety standards and company procedures.
- Recommend spare parts and maintenance schedules to customers.
- Provide technical guidance and training to operators when required.
Required Qualifications
- Diploma/B.E./B.Tech in Mechanical, Electrical, Automobile, or related engineering field.
- Relevant experience in diesel generator - troubleshooting.
- Knowledge of engines, alternators, AMF/ATS panels, synchronization systems, and electrical circuits.
- Ability to read electrical and mechanical drawings.
- Valid driving license (preferred for field service roles).

Experience: 3+ years in commissioning, preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of diesel generator sets ranging from 15 kVA to 2000 kVA.
