The CBSE High School English Teacher is responsible for delivering high-quality English language and literature instruction to students of Grades IX and X in accordance with the CBSE curriculum and NEP 2020 guidelines. The teacher should possess excellent subject knowledge, foster critical thinking, communication skills, and prepare students effectively for CBSE Board Examinations through competency-based teaching methodologies.
Key Responsibilities1. Academic Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver engaging, competency-based English lessons aligned with the CBSE curriculum.
- Teach English Language and Literature to Grades IX & X.
- Prepare annual plans, lesson plans, unit plans, and learning outcomes.
- Develop students' reading, writing, listening, speaking, grammar, and vocabulary skills.
- Encourage critical thinking, creativity, and effective communication through interactive classroom activities.
- Integrate experiential learning and real-life applications into lessons.
2. Board Examination Preparation
- Prepare students thoroughly for CBSE Class X Board Examinations.
- Conduct regular revisions and practice sessions.
- Design competency-based worksheets, assignments, and question papers.
- Train students in:
- Reading Comprehension
- Analytical Paragraph Writing
- Letter Writing
- Grammar
- Literature-based Competency Questions
- Analyze student performance and implement improvement strategies.
3. Assessment & Evaluation
- Prepare question papers as per CBSE assessment patterns.
- Conduct formative and summative assessments.
- Evaluate answer scripts and provide constructive feedback.
- Maintain assessment records and student portfolios.
- Identify slow learners and gifted students and provide appropriate support.
4. Classroom Management
- Create a positive, inclusive, and disciplined learning environment.
- Promote respect, collaboration, and active participation.
- Ensure classroom displays and learning resources are updated regularly.
- Maintain attendance and academic records accurately.
5. Student Development
- Encourage reading habits through library activities and book reviews.
- Organize debates, JAM sessions, elocution, creative writing competitions, and literary club activities.
- Mentor students academically and personally.
- Guide students in improving spoken English and presentation skills.
6. Lesson Planning & Documentation
- Prepare:

7. Parent Communication
- Participate in Parent-Teacher Meetings (PTMs).

- Attend CBSE Capacity Building Programmes and training sessions.
- Stay updated with CBSE circulars, examination reforms, and competency-based assessment practices.
- Collaborate with colleagues to share best teaching practices.
9. Co-curricular Responsibilities
- Assist in organizing school assemblies and literary events.
- Coordinate English Week, Reading Day, debates, quizzes, and cultural programmes.
- Support school functions, examinations, and other institutional activities.
10. Administrative Responsibilities
- Maintain student records and academic documentation.
- Submit reports within stipulated timelines.
- Participate in examination duties, invigilation, paper evaluation, and result analysis.
- Perform other duties assigned by the Principal or school management.
Required Qualifications
- Master's Degree in English (M.A. English) or Bachelor's Degree in English (B.A. English) with excellent academic record.
- B.Ed. (Mandatory)
- CTET/TET qualification preferred.
- Minimum 3–5 years of teaching experience, with proven experience handling CBSE Grades IX & X.
- Experience in preparing students for CBSE Board Examinations.
