Job Summary:
A Mechanical Supervisor is responsible for supervising mechanical works, manpower handling, equipment maintenance, installation activities, and ensuring smooth execution of mechanical operations at site or plant. The role includes monitoring work quality, safety compliance, productivity, and coordination with different departments.
Key Roles & Responsibilities
- Supervise daily mechanical activities at site/workshop/plant.
- Monitor installation, maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting of mechanical equipment and machinery.
- Ensure work is executed according to drawings, specifications, and project requirements.
- Allocate work responsibilities to technicians, fitters, welders, and mechanical staff.
- Maintain proper utilization of manpower, tools, and materials.
- Coordinate with project engineers, contractors, and other departments for smooth workflow.
- Ensure preventive and breakdown maintenance activities are completed on time.
- Inspect mechanical systems and equipment to identify faults and ensure proper functioning.
- Maintain daily work reports, progress reports, and maintenance records.
- Ensure adherence to safety standards, PPE usage, and company policies at site.
- Monitor quality of work and ensure compliance with industry standards.
- Assist in material planning and inventory control for mechanical spare parts.
- Support commissioning and testing activities of mechanical systems/equipment.
- Train and guide junior staff and workers for efficient performance.
- Ensure timely completion of assigned work within deadlines.
Required Qualifications
- Diploma / B.E. / B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering.
- ITI with relevant supervisory experience may also be considered.
Experience Required
- Typically 3–8 years of experience in mechanical supervision, maintenance, fabrication, erection, or industrial projects.
Required Skills
- Knowledge of mechanical equipment and maintenance practices.
- Leadership and manpower handling skills.
- Understanding of mechanical drawings and technical specifications.
- Problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities.
- Good communication and coordination skills.
- Knowledge of safety procedures and quality standards.
- Basic computer knowledge for reporting and documentation.
