Key Responsibilities
Hatchery Operations
- Assist in planning and coordinating egg setting, incubation, transfer, hatching, and chick dispatch activities.
- Monitor hatchability rates, chick quality, and production targets.
- Ensure proper operation of incubators, hatchers, and hatchery equipment.
- Maintain accurate production records and reports.
Staff Supervision
- Supervise hatchery technicians and workers.
- Assign daily tasks and monitor performance.
- Provide training on hatchery procedures, biosecurity, and safety practices.
- Ensure adequate staffing for all shifts.
Biosecurity & Hygiene
- Implement and monitor strict biosecurity protocols.
- Ensure cleaning and disinfection schedules are followed.
- Monitor visitor access and movement controls.
- Support disease prevention and control measures.
Quality Control
- Conduct chick quality assessments.
- Monitor egg storage conditions and incubation parameters.
- Investigate hatchery losses and recommend corrective actions.
- Ensure compliance with company quality standards.
Equipment & Maintenance
- Coordinate preventive maintenance of hatchery equipment.
- Report equipment malfunctions and follow up on repairs.
- Monitor temperature, humidity, ventilation, and alarm systems.
Inventory & Documentation
- Track hatchery consumables and supplies.
- Maintain stock records for vaccines, disinfectants, trays, and packaging materials.
- Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly operational reports.
Health, Safety & Compliance
- Ensure compliance with workplace safety regulations.
- Promote animal welfare standards.
- Participate in audits and inspections.
- Support implementation of standard operating procedures (SOPs).
