The Role: You will be design the Link Architecture that defines how command network for UAVs operates and receives HD video without signal dropouts or interference. This is not about setting up WiFi; this is about Link Budgets, Fresnel Zones, as also ensuring continuous, high performance and secure communications in challenging RF environments.
What You Will Do
Define the RF strategy taking it to Critical Design & Prototype stage.
Select the critical radio hardware e.g. MANET/Mesh based on SWaP-C analysis.
Simulate antenna placement to ensure the aircraft has no "blind spots" during dynamic flight profiles and varied banking angles.
Key Responsibilities
Link Analysis: Calculate detailed Link Budgets for C2 and Video links, accounting for terrain, airframe shadowing, and fade margins.
Hardware Selection: Evaluate and select MANET Radios and configure them for optimal throughput vs. range.
Interference Mitigation Strategy: Design the architecture for Frequency Hopping Spread Spectrum (FHSS) and advise on antenna diversity (MIMO) to mitigate multi-path interference and signal degradation.
Communications Security: Implement AES-256 encryption standards and manage advanced network security protocols.
Minimum Qualifications:
B.E./B.Tech in Telecommunications, Electronics & Communications (ECE) or RF Engineering.
1-3 years of experience in RF System Design, Wireless Communications or Aerospace Electronics.
Proven capability to pick and configure mission-critical radio hardware (MANET/Mesh architectures) based on strict SWaP-C (Size, Weight, Power, and Cost) trade-offs.
Core Technical Knowledge: Applied understanding of signal propagation physics, antenna metrics (Gain, VSWR, Polarization), modulation formats (QPSK, OFDM), and basic UAV protocol ecosystems.
Preferred Qualifications:
-
M.Tech/MS in RF or Microwave Engineering.
-
Experience with Software Defined Radios (SDR).
-
Proficiency in 3D RF simulation and modeling software (ANSYS HFSS or CST Studio Suite).
Skills & Abilities:
Simulation: Proficiency in MATLAB (RF Toolbox), CST Microwave Studio, or HFSS.
-
RF Physics: Deep understanding of Gain, VSWR, Polarization, and Propagation models (Longley-Rice).
-
Hardware: Experience with Spectrum Analyzers and Vector Network Analyzers (VNA).
