Job Summary:
We are seeking a Technical Assistant for the Engineering Chemistry Laboratory supporting the Electronics and Communication Engineering (ECE) Department. The candidate will assist faculty members in conducting practical sessions, maintain laboratory equipment and chemicals, guide students during experiments, and ensure adherence to laboratory safety standards. The role requires sound knowledge of chemistry laboratory practices, chemical handling procedures, and laboratory documentation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist faculty members in conducting Engineering Chemistry practical classes and laboratory sessions for students.
- Prepare chemicals, reagents, apparatus, and laboratory materials before practical sessions.
- Demonstrate laboratory experiments, procedures, and safe handling practices to students.
- Monitor students during practical sessions and ensure compliance with laboratory safety procedures and discipline.
- Maintain laboratory equipment, glassware, instruments, and chemicals in proper working condition.
- Ensure safe storage, labeling, handling, calibration, and maintenance of chemicals and laboratory equipment as per safety standards.
- Maintain records of laboratory stock, chemical inventory, consumables, equipment usage, and related documentation.
- Support internal and external practical examinations, project work, and departmental laboratory activities.
- Identify laboratory equipment issues and coordinate repairs and preventive maintenance activities.
- Maintain cleanliness, organization, and safety within the laboratory premises.
- Assist in audit, inspection, accreditation, and laboratory compliance-related activities.
Desired Candidate Qualification
- B.Sc in Chemistry – mandatory.
- 2–5 years of experience in chemistry laboratories or educational institutions.
- Strong knowledge of chemistry laboratory practices, chemical handling, and safety procedures.
- Ability to prepare reagents, maintain laboratory records, and support practical sessions effectively.
- Good understanding of laboratory equipment handling and maintenance.
- Basic computer knowledge and documentation skills.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to coordinate effectively with faculty members and students.
- Attention to detail and adherence to safety standards.
- Experience in educational institutions/polytechnic/engineering colleges is preferred.
