EHS Manager – Greenfield Data Centers (Hyperscale Standards)

Role Objective
The EHS Manager will establish and lead a world-class safety culture for greenfield data center projects. The role focuses on implementing Hyperscaler level safety standards, ensuring that every phase of construction from excavation to final commissioning meets global and local safety benchmarks.
The objective is to achieve Zero Harm through proactive risk management and strong documentation systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Safety Framework Development (From Scratch)
- Develop Safety Execution Manuals
- Develop ISO compliant procedures
- Create project specific safety plans
- Develop Safety Rule Books
- Create incident reporting flow charts
Method Statement Oversight
- Develop and validate Safe Work Method Statements (SWMS)
- Cover standard and high risk Civil and MEP works
- Ensure compliance with approved safety systems and controls
Permit to Work (PTW) System
- Design and manage Work Permit templates and workflows for
- Lockout Tagout (LOTO)
- Working at Height
- Confined Space Entry
- Hot Work
- Ensure strict PTW compliance on site
Hyperscaler Alignment
- Ensure all site activities align with Hyperscaler safety expectations
- Implement High Risk Activity (HRA) protocols
- Maintain required reporting cadence with stakeholders
Contractor Safety Management
- Audit and monitor contractors in field execution
- Ensure alignment with ISO standards and approved safety systems
- Drive safety compliance and behavioral safety improvement
ISO Systems Management
- Implement and maintain ISO 45001 Occupational Health and Safety
- Implement and maintain ISO 14001 Environmental Management
- Ensure audit readiness and compliance
Performance Metrics and ReportingData Driven Monitoring
- Track and report TRIR (Total Recordable Incident Rate)
- Track WPS (Worst Potential Severity)
- Track LTC (Lost Time Cases)
Incident Analysis
- Investigate FTOV cases and Near Miss incidents
- Perform Root Cause Analysis and implement corrective actions
Man Hour Tracking
- Maintain records of safe man hours
- Maintain training attendance records for all site personnel
Key Deliverables
- Project Safety Manual for greenfield data centers
- Standardized SWMS library for all construction activities
- Weekly and monthly safety dashboards including TRIR, WPS, Near Miss trends
- ISO and Hyperscaler audit compliance reports
Qualifications and Experience
Experience
- Minimum 10 years in EHS management in large industrial projects
- Strong preference for greenfield data center experience
Certifications Mandatory
- NEBOSH IGC or NEBOSH IDip
- Indian Industrial Safety qualification from CLI or RLI or State Technical Board
- As per Factories Act and BOCW Act requirements
Education
- Bachelor degree in Engineering (Civil, Mechanical, Electrical) or Environmental Science
Competencies
- Strong knowledge of Hyperscaler safety playbooks
- Knowledge of BOCW Act, Factories Act, and Indian Electricity Rules
- Strong experience in contractor safety and high risk construction environments
