Role Overview:
We seek a skilled Server Administrator to manage and optimize our hybrid (cloud/on-premises) infrastructure, ensuring high availability, security, and scalability for our AI-driven SaaS platform. You’ll maintain backend systems, databases, and integrations while collaborating with DevOps and engineering teams to support seamless data flows and robust performance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Infrastructure Management:
- Deploy, configure, and maintain Linux/Windows servers on AWS/Azure and on-premises environments.
- Manage web servers (nginx), application servers (Gunicorn), and Python frameworks (Django, FastAPI).
- Optimize database performance for PostgreSQL, MongoDB, and Redis clusters, including replication and caching strategies.
- Ensure scalability for multi-tenant SaaS architectures and high-traffic AI/ML workloads.
- Security & Compliance:
- Configure and maintain firewall policies (iptables, AWS Security Groups, Azure NSG) to restrict unauthorized access.
- Perform vulnerability assessments, patch management, and audits aligned with OWASP Top 10.
- Monitor intrusion detection systems (IDS) and implement RBAC for system/data access.
- Enforce encryption protocols for data in transit (TLS/SSL) and at rest (database/file-system encryption).
- Automation & Monitoring:
- Develop automation scripts (Bash/Python) for server provisioning, updates, and backups.
- Configure monitoring tools (Prometheus, CloudWatch) for nginx, Gunicorn, and database performance (PostgreSQL query latency, Redis cache hit rates).
- Manage containerized environments (Docker/Kubernetes) and CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, GitLab).
- Disaster Recovery & Data Integrity:
- Design backup/restore strategies for PostgreSQL, MongoDB, and Redis data.
- Test failover mechanisms for databases and web servers to meet RPO/RTO targets.
- Validate data synchronization between external APIs (e.g., social media platforms) and internal systems.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration:
- Partner with Test Engineers to replicate production environments for QA testing.
- Support DBAs in optimizing PostgreSQL query performance and MongoDB sharding.
- Assist developers in debugging nginx/Gunicorn configuration issues and FastAPI service deployments.
Requirements:
- 3+ years of server administration experience, including 2+ years in cloud environments (AWS/Azure).
- Proficiency in managing nginx, PostgreSQL, Redis, MongoDB, and Python-based stacks (Gunicorn, Django, FastAPI).
- Hands-on experience with Linux/Windows server management, scripting (Bash/Python), and IaC tools (Terraform, Ansible).
- Strong knowledge of firewall configuration, network security, and monitoring tools (Prometheus, Grafana).
- Expertise in backup solutions (pg_dump, MongoDB backups) and disaster recovery planning.
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, IT, or related field.
Nice-to-Have:
- Certifications: AWS/Azure Administrator, PostgreSQL/Redis Professional, or RHCE.
- Experience with big data tools (Apache Spark, Hadoop) or AI/ML infrastructure (GPU clusters).
- Familiarity with compliance frameworks (GDPR, SOC2) or security tools (Snort, Nessus).
