The Import Executive is responsible for managing end-to-end import operations, ensuring timely customs clearance, regulatory compliance, and seamless cargo movement from origin to final delivery. The role requires strong coordination with freight forwarders, shipping lines, airlines, customs brokers, transporters, government authorities, and customers. The ideal candidate should possess excellent documentation, communication, and problem-solving skills to ensure efficient and cost-effective import operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate and manage import shipments from origin to final delivery.
- Prepare, review, and process import documentation, including:
- Bill of Lading (BL)
- Commercial Invoice and Packing List
- Certificate of Origin
- Import permits, licenses, and other regulatory documents as required based on the commodity and applicable HS Codes.
- Coordinate with shipping lines, airlines, Courier Partners, Freight Forwarders, Customs Brokers, Transporters, and Government Agencies to ensure smooth shipment execution.
- Handle courier import shipments and possess strong operational knowledge of courier clearance procedures.
- Monitor shipment progress and provide regular status updates to customers and internal stakeholders.
- Coordinate customs clearance activities and ensure compliance with all applicable import regulations and statutory requirements.
- Proactively identify and resolve shipment delays, clearance issues, and operational challenges.
- Verify freight invoices, customs duty payments, Delivery Order (DO) charges, vendor invoices, and other related costs for accuracy, and coordinate with the Accounts/Billing team for timely invoice generation and customer billing.
- Maintain accurate shipment records and ensure timely updates in ERP, TMS, or other operational systems.
- Ensure timely cargo delivery while maintaining high customer service standards.
- Prepare operational reports, shipment tracking reports, DSR / MIS reports, and KPI dashboards.
- Respond to customer inquiries and resolve shipment-related issues in a timely and professional manner.
- Support process improvement initiatives to enhance operational efficiency and service quality.
- Independently manage import operations with minimal supervision while ensuring adherence to company procedures and compliance requirements.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree Required (Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Commerce, Logistics, or a related field).
- 2–5 years of experience in import operations, freight forwarding, customs clearance, or logistics.
- Strong knowledge of international shipping procedures, Incoterms, import regulations, customs documentation, and trade compliance requirements.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, Outlook) and ERP/TMS platforms.
- Excellent organizational, communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
Preferred Skills
- Sound understanding of customs clearance procedures and import compliance requirements.
- Experience in handling ocean freight, air freight, courier shipments, and multimodal transportation.
- Familiarity with freight forwarding operations and coordination with shipping lines and airlines.
- Ability to manage multiple shipments and priorities simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong attention to detail with excellent documentation and record-keeping skills.
- Customer-focused approach with the ability to work effectively under tight deadlines and operational pressure.
Pay: ₹20,000.00 - ₹30,000.00 per month
