Job Summary
The Electrical Draftsman is responsible for preparing detailed electrical drawings, layouts, and technical documentation based on design specifications and engineering standards. The role involves creating accurate CAD drawings for electrical systems, ensuring compliance with project requirements, and coordinating with engineers and other departments during project execution.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare detailed electrical drawings using AutoCAD or other CAD software.
- Develop Single Line Diagrams (SLD), General Arrangement (GA) drawings, cable routing layouts, cable schedules, and panel layouts.
- Prepare electrical control panel drawings, wiring diagrams, terminal diagrams, and schematic diagrams.
- Generate lighting layouts, power layouts, earthing layouts, and cable tray routing drawings.
- Revise and update drawings based on engineering comments and client requirements.
- Maintain drawing registers and ensure proper document control.
- Coordinate with Electrical Design Engineers, Mechanical Engineers, and Project Engineers to ensure drawing accuracy.
- Ensure all drawings comply with applicable electrical standards, codes, and project specifications.
- Prepare as-built drawings after project completion.
- Maintain proper version control of all engineering drawings.
- Assist in preparing Bills of Materials (BOM) and equipment schedules.
- Support project execution teams with technical drawings whenever required.
Required Qualifications
- Diploma or ITI in Electrical Engineering, Draftsmanship, or a related technical discipline.
- Certification in AutoCAD or CAD Drafting is preferred.
Experience
- 7–8 years of experience as an Electrical Draftsman.
- Experience in EPC projects, industrial plants, power plants, water treatment plants (WTP), sewage treatment plants (STP), or electrical panel manufacturing will be an added advantage.
Technical Skills
- Proficiency in AutoCAD (2D); knowledge of AutoCAD Electrical is preferred.
- Ability to prepare electrical schematics and wiring diagrams.
- Knowledge of electrical symbols, standards, and drafting practices.
- Familiarity with cable sizing, panel layouts, earthing systems, and lighting layouts.
- Understanding of electrical equipment and components.
- Basic knowledge of MS Office applications.
- Knowledge of EPLAN, SolidWorks Electrical, or Revit MEP is an added advantage.
