Position: Biochemist

Job Summary
The Biochemist is responsible for performing, analysing, validating, and reporting biochemical investigations while ensuring quality control, laboratory safety, and compliance with NABH/NABL standards.
Key ResponsibilitiesLaboratory Operations
- Perform and supervise routine and specialized biochemical tests.
- Analyze blood, urine, and other body fluid samples.
- Validate test results before reporting.
- Ensure timely and accurate reporting of laboratory investigations.
- Monitor critical values and communicate them promptly to clinicians.
Equipment Management
- Operate and maintain fully automated biochemistry analyzers.
- Perform daily calibration and quality control procedures.
- Coordinate preventive maintenance and troubleshooting of laboratory equipment.
- Maintain reagent inventory and stock levels.
Quality Assurance
- Implement Internal Quality Control (IQC) procedures.
- Participate in External Quality Assurance Programs (EQAS).
- Maintain NABH/NABL documentation and records.
- Ensure compliance with laboratory quality standards and protocols.
Documentation & Reporting
- Maintain laboratory registers and records.
- Prepare monthly laboratory statistics and reports.
- Ensure proper documentation of quality indicators and corrective actions.
Safety & Compliance
- Follow biomedical waste management guidelines.
- Adhere to infection control and laboratory safety protocols.
- Ensure proper storage and handling of chemicals and reagents.
Training & Coordination
- Train laboratory technicians and support staff.
- Coordinate with consultants, clinicians, and nursing staff regarding investigations.
- Participate in departmental meetings and quality improvement initiatives.
Qualification
Essential:
Experience
- Fresher to 10+ years experience
- Hospital laboratory experience preferred
- Experience with fully automated analysers is an added advantage
