Role Summary
We're looking for a detail-oriented ME Cost Engineer responsible for cost estimation, cost analysis, and cost optimization for mechanical components and assemblies — working closely with Design, Manufacturing, Sourcing, and Suppliers to develop accurate product cost estimates.
Roles & Responsibilities:
* Prepare should-cost and cost estimation for mechanical components and assemblies
* Analyze material, machining, fabrication, tooling, labor, overhead and process costs
* Review engineering drawings, BOM, GD&T and specifications for cost estimation
* Perform Design-to-Cost (DTC) and Value Engineering activities
* Identify cost reduction opportunities through material, process, design and supplier optimization
* Conduct Make vs Buy and supplier cost comparisons
* Analyze supplier quotations and negotiate/validate cost breakdowns
* Work with Design and Manufacturing teams to evaluate DFM/DFA opportunities
* Support NPI and new product cost estimation
* Develop and maintain cost models and databases for components
* Benchmark component and process costs against market/supplier data
* Support VA/VE and localization initiatives
* Prepare cost reports and present cost analysis to management
Required Skills:
* Strong knowledge of Mechanical Manufacturing Processes
* Experience in Cost Estimation / Should Costing
* Good understanding of machining, sheet metal, casting, forging, fabrication and injection molding
* Knowledge of material costing and manufacturing process costing
* Ability to read 2D drawings, GD&T and BOMs
* Strong knowledge of Excel and cost analysis tools
* Experience in supplier quotation analysis and negotiation
* Good understanding of DFM/DFA and Value Engineering
