Role Overview: The HVAC Design Engineer will be responsible for end-to-end HVAC system design, calculations, drawings, and technical coordination for commercial and industrial projects. The role requires strong design fundamentals, hands-on software proficiency, and close coordination with internal execution teams and external stakeholders.
Key Roles & Responsibilities:
HVAC Design & Engineering:
- Prepare complete HVAC system designs in line with project scope, client requirements, and applicable codes
- Carry out heat load calculations, ventilation calculations, and equipment sizing (chillers, AHUs, VRVs, FCUs, cooling towers, pumps, ducting & piping)
- Design and develop HVAC layouts, GA drawings, schematics, and single-line diagrams
- Prepare design basis reports (DBR) and system narratives
- Perform pressure drop calculations for ducting and piping systems
- Ensure designs comply with ASHRAE, ISHRAE, NBC, SMACNA, and local authority norms
Software & Tools (Mandatory / Preferred): Software & Tools Proficiency:
Mandatory:
- AutoCAD – HVAC layouts, schematics, coordination drawings
- Revit MEP – HVAC modelling, system layouts, clash coordination, quantity take-offs
- MS Excel – design calculations, BOQs, equipment schedules
Preferred / Added Advantage:
- Carrier HAP / TRACE 700 / equivalent – Heat load & energy calculations
- Revit MEP – HVAC modelling, clash coordination (working knowledge acceptable)
- Bluebeam / Navisworks – Drawing review & coordination (added advantage)
- PROMASH or similar ERP/project tracking tools – documentation & coordination (added advantage)
Documentation & Coordination:
- Prepare BOQs, technical specifications, tender drawings, and estimation inputs
- Review and approve shop drawings, technical submittals, and material datasheets
- Coordinate with Electrical, Plumbing, Fire Fighting, BMS, and Civil teams
- Provide design support during execution, including site queries and revisions
- Participate in design review meetings with clients, consultants, and vendors
Value Engineering & Project Support:
- Suggest value engineering options for cost optimisation and energy efficiency
- Support planning and procurement teams with technical clarifications
- Assist in resolving design conflicts and site-level engineering issues
- Ensure timely delivery of drawings and documents as per project schedules
Qualifications:
- B.E. / B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering (Preferred)
- Diploma in Mechanical Engineering with strong HVAC design experience (acceptable)
- HVAC design certifications are an added advantage
Industry Experience (Preferred):
- Commercial buildings.
- Industrial plants & manufacturing facilities.
- IT parks, hospitals, malls, data centres.
- Large MEP / EPC / Industrial HVAC projects.
Key Skills & Competencies:
- Strong HVAC design fundamentals and system knowledge.
- Good understanding of execution constraints and site coordination.
- Strong documentation and drawing control discipline.
- Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
- Clear communication and coordination skills.
Pay: ₹40,000.00 - ₹60,000.00 per month
