We are looking for a strategic and hands-on Head of SEO to lead our organic search function end-to-end. In this role, you will define and execute a holistic SEO strategy that drives sustainable traffic growth, brand visibility, and revenue impact. You will partner closely with Content, Product, Engineering, and Paid Media teams to embed SEO thinking across the business. This is a senior individual-contributor-to-leadership role — you will own results, build process, and grow a team.
Key Responsibilities
SEO Strategy & Vision
- Develop and own the multi-year SEO roadmap aligned with business goals.
- Set measurable OKRs for organic search; track and report performance to leadership.
- Stay ahead of algorithm changes, industry trends, and competitive landscape shifts.
- Define the right mix of technical SEO, content SEO, and link-building initiatives.
Technical SEO
- Lead technical audits and prioritise fixes — crawlability, indexation, Core Web Vitals, site architecture, structured data.
- Partner with Engineering to ensure SEO requirements are built into product and platform roadmaps.
- Drive implementation of schema markup, hreflang, canonicals, and other technical elements.
- Own SEO tooling stack selection and integration (Screaming Frog, Ahrefs, SEMrush, GSC, etc.).
Content & On-Page SEO
- Collaborate with the Content team to build topical authority through strategic content clusters.
- Own keyword research frameworks, content briefs, and on-page optimisation guidelines.
- Identify content gaps and opportunities through competitive and SERP analysis.
- Guide writers and editors on SEO best practices without compromising content quality.
Off-Page SEO & Authority Building
- Design and oversee a white-hat link acquisition strategy.
- Build relationships with publishers, partners, and digital PR teams.
- Monitor and maintain domain authority; manage disavow processes when necessary.
Analytics & Reporting
- Define SEO KPIs — organic sessions, rankings, CTR, crawl health, share of voice.
- Build and maintain dashboards in Looker Studio / GA4 / Search Console.
- Provide regular performance updates and actionable insights to stakeholders.
- Conduct SEO impact attribution and incrementality analysis.
Team & Stakeholder Management
- Build, mentor, and manage a high-performing SEO team (in-house and agency).
- Evangelise SEO across the organisation — train cross-functional partners.
- Manage SEO agency and freelancer relationships, budgets, and deliverables.
Requirements
Must-Have
- 7–10 years of hands-on SEO experience, with at least 2 years in a leadership or managerial role.
- Proven track record of driving significant organic growth for a mid-to-large-scale website (100K+ monthly sessions).
- Deep expertise in technical SEO, on-page SEO, and link building.
- Strong command of SEO tools: Google Search Console, GA4, SEMrush / Ahrefs / Moz, Screaming Frog, Lumar / DeepCrawl.
- Experience working directly with Engineering teams; able to communicate technical requirements clearly.
- Data-driven mindset — comfortable with Excel, Google Sheets, and BI tools (Looker Studio, Tableau, or equivalent).
- Excellent communication skills; able to present complex data to non-technical stakeholders.
- Up-to-date knowledge of Google's ranking systems, Search Generative Experience (SGE / AI Overviews), and E-E-A-T principles.
Good to Have
- Experience with enterprise CMS platforms (WordPress VIP, Contentful, custom builds).
- Familiarity with Python or JavaScript for SEO automation and log-file analysis.
- Background in e-commerce, SaaS, or marketplace SEO.
- Experience with international / multilingual SEO and hreflang implementations.
- Knowledge of Paid Search (Google Ads) and how it interplays with organic strategy.
- Prior experience setting up and scaling an in-house SEO function from scratch.
Pay: ₹60,000.00 - ₹90,000.00 per month
