Experience Required:
- Minimum 5 years of work experience in job placement, career counseling, human resources, or related roles, preferably in working with underserved populations
- Strong understanding of the job market, industry trends, and skill requirements across various sectors.

- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to engage with students, employers, and community partners effectively.
- Empathy, patience, and a genuine passion for empowering individuals from diverse backgrounds.

The Role
PCI India is seeking a dynamic and industry-oriented Placement Officer for Project ASCEND to lead employer engagement, placement facilitation, and retention support for youth trained under the program. The role will be critical in translating skilling outcomes into sustainable livelihoods within the solar and renewable energy ecosystem.
The Placement Officer will work closely with solar companies, EPC contractors, MSMEs, renewable energy startups, training centers, and ecosystem stakeholders to create employment pathways for trained youth. The role will require strong coordination with the training, mobilization, and MIS teams to ensure that placement targets and retention outcomes are achieved across the project geographies.
The ideal candidate should possess strong industry networking capabilities, an understanding of renewable energy workforce requirements, and experience in placement-linked skilling programs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Student Engagement: Build and maintain strong relationships with students who have completed skill-based training programs, understanding their aspirations, capabilities, and career preferences.
- Employer Engagement & Networking: Build and maintain relationships with solar companies, EPC firms, renewable energy startups, local contractors, placement agencies, and industry stakeholders to identify placement opportunities for trained youth under Project ASCEND.
- Placement Facilitation: Match trained candidates with suitable job opportunities based on their skills, interests, mobility, and employer requirements. Coordinate interviews, placement drives, and on boarding processes for candidates across Maharashtra and Karnataka.
- Industry Alignment & Market Insights: Collaborate with trainers and program teams to understand evolving workforce requirements in the renewable energy sector and ensure alignment between training delivery and industry demand.
- Data Management & Reporting: Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of employer partnerships, student placements, salaries, and retention outcomes through the project MIS/dashboard system. Generate periodic reports for program review and donor reporting.
- Post-Placement Follow-up & Retention: Conduct regular follow-ups with placed candidates and employers to track retention, workplace integration, and performance. Support resolution of placement-related challenges where required.
- Feedback & Program Improvement: Gather feedback from employers and candidates regarding job readiness, performance, and training quality to support continuous improvement of the ASCEND program.
- Assist and support the reporting manager in any other tasks assigned.

Recruitment Process
- Applications will be shortlisted based on the criteria mentioned in the job description.
- The process may include a presentation of the assignment.
- Shortlisted candidates will be invited for one or more rounds of panel interviews.
The complete process usually takes 2–3 weeks. Candidates moving to the final round will hear from the People & Culture team. In‑person meetings are preferred, but virtual meetings are conducted where distance is a constraint.
