JOB DESCRIPTION – RESIDENT MEDICAL OFFICER (RMO)
Position: Resident Medical Officer (RMO)

Job Summary
The Resident Medical Officer (RMO) is responsible for providing timely and effective medical care to patients, monitoring their clinical condition, assisting consultants, and ensuring continuity of care during duty hours. The RMO will support the smooth functioning of the Emergency Department and inpatient services.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct initial assessment and examination of patients.
- Attend to medical emergencies and provide immediate management.
- Monitor vital signs and clinical condition of admitted patients.
- Take appropriate medical history and maintain accurate clinical documentation.
- Initiate investigations and treatment as advised by consultants.
- Assist consultants during rounds, procedures, and emergency interventions.
- Respond promptly to emergency calls and deteriorating patients.
- Coordinate with nursing staff and other departments for patient care.
- Ensure proper handover of patients during shift changes.
- Communicate effectively with patients and their bystanders regarding treatment and care.
- Identify and escalate critical cases to the concerned consultant without delay.
- Maintain accurate patient records, progress notes, and discharge documentation.
- Follow hospital policies, infection-control practices, patient-safety standards, and NABH requirements.
- Participate in code blue, resuscitation, and other emergency response activities.
- Ensure appropriate referrals and transfers when required.
- Perform any other clinical duties assigned by the Medical Superintendent or concerned consultant.
Qualification & Eligibility
- MBBS from a recognized medical institution.
- Valid Kerala State Medical Council / National Medical Commission registration.
- Previous experience as an RMO, casualty medical officer, or in emergency/inpatient care is preferred.
- Candidates with good clinical and communication skills will be preferred.
