Tea Linkers is a growing tea blending, packaging, and trading company engaged in sourcing, tasting, blending, and supplying quality teas across multiple markets. We are looking for an experienced and highly skilled Senior Tea Taster with strong expertise in tea tasting, auction buying, CTC tea evaluation, bulk tea procurement, market analysis, and price benchmarking.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct professional tea tasting and evaluation of CTC, Orthodox, and blended teas
- Perform daily tea liquoring and maintain quality consistency standards
- Handle auction tea buying from Siliguri, Kolkata, Guwahati, and other tea auction centers
- Source and procure teas in bulk quantities based on market demand and quality standards
- Evaluate tea quality based on liquor, aroma, appearance, leaf grade, infusion, briskness, and cup characteristics
- Analyze tea market trends, pricing fluctuations, crop conditions, and seasonal variations
- Negotiate with brokers, suppliers, tea gardens, and auction houses for competitive purchasing
- Develop and maintain standardized tea blends as per company requirements
- Ensure proper quality control and consistency across production batches
- Maintain tasting records, purchase reports, and market analysis data
- Coordinate with production, sales, and procurement teams for product planning
- Guide management regarding tea pricing, inventory planning, and sourcing strategies
- Build strong relationships with tea brokers, auctioneers, and tea estates
Required Skills & Expertise
- Extensive experience in tea tasting and tea buying
- Strong knowledge of CTC teas, bulk tea buying, and tea auctions
- Deep understanding of Indian tea markets including Assam, Dooars, Darjeeling, and other tea-producing regions
- Expertise in price evaluation, market forecasting, and quality benchmarking
- Excellent sensory and palate evaluation skills
- Strong negotiation and supplier management abilities
- Knowledge of tea grades, seasonal quality variations, and blending techniques
- Ability to handle high-volume tasting and procurement operations
- Strong analytical, reporting, and communication skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Minimum 8–15 years of experience as a Tea Taster / Tea Buyer / Tea Auction Buyer
- Experience in tea blending, tea trading, or FMCG tea industry preferred
- Certification or training in tea tasting will be an added advantage
- Strong industry network within tea auction and brokerage markets
