- Act as the procurement functional expert for Recode’s procurement digital worker solutions

Bring strong knowledge of direct spend and indirect spend categories, sourcing practices, procurement operations, and stakeholder workflows

Work with customers to understand current-state procurement processes, pain points, business rules, and decision-making workflows

Translate procurement use cases into functional requirements, workflows, exception logic, business rules, and AI-agent task definitions

Support solution design for use cases such as:

supplier consolidation / rationalization
-
contract compliance monitoring
-
PR-to-PO workflow optimization
category insights and opportunity analysis

Define process scenarios, data requirements, KPIs, success criteria, and business outcomes for pilots and production deployments

Help train and validate procurement digital workers using real-world procurement language, policies, and operating models

Partner with engineering and product teams to refine prompts, decision frameworks, workflows, and human-in-the-loop interventions

Support customer workshops, discovery sessions, solution demonstrations, and value articulation

Create functional documentation including business requirements, use case definitions, decision trees, test cases, and operating playbooks

Advise on procurement best practices, compliance controls, policy adherence, and enterprise change management

Contribute to thought leadership and solution roadmap for procurement-focused digital workers
We are looking for a strong Procurement Domain Subject Matter Expert (SME) to join our Recode Digital Worker team as a Functional Consultant. This role is ideal for a procurement professional who combines deep functional expertise with a strong understanding of process transformation, spend analytics, and automation opportunities across the source-to-pay lifecycle.
The ideal candidate should have hands-on experience across direct and indirect procurement, and should have led or supported initiatives involving spend optimization, maverick spend analysis, tail spend management, supplier rationalization, compliance improvement, and procurement transformation.
In this role, you will work closely with product, engineering, AI, and customer teams to help shape and deploy procurement-focused digital workers that solve real enterprise problems.
Required Qualification

Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Procurement, Business, Operations, Engineering, or related field

8+ years of experience in procurement, strategic sourcing, category management, procurement consulting, or procurement transformation roles

Strong functional understanding of direct procurement and indirect procurement processes and spend categories

Proven experience in one or more of the following:

spend optimization programs
-
supplier performance and rationalization
-
procurement compliance improvement
-
sourcing and category strategy development
purchase requisition and purchase order process optimization

Experience working with procurement data, spend taxonomies, supplier data, and purchasing analytics

Strong knowledge of source-to-pay / procure-to-pay processes and procurement operating models

Ability to convert business problems into structured functional requirements and solution logic

Strong stakeholder management and workshop facilitation skills
-
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Preferred Qualification:

Experience in procurement transformation or consulting engagements for large enterprises

Familiarity with procurement platforms such as SAP Ariba, Coupa, Oracle Procurement, Jaggaer, Ivalua, Zip, or similar tools

Exposure to procurement analytics, spend cubes, supplier master data, contract data, and AP / invoice-related workflows

Understanding of policy controls, approval workflows, exception handling, and compliance monitoring in procurement operations

Ability to work cross-functionally with product managers, engineers, designers, and AI teams

MBA or relevant procurement / supply chain certification is a plus
