Job Summary
We are seeking a highly experienced and result-oriented Senior NPI Manager / Lead NPI Engineer with 10+ years of expertise in New Product Introduction (NPI), Manufacturing Engineering, and Product Industrialization. The ideal candidate will lead end-to-end NPI programs, ensuring successful product launches with world-class quality, manufacturability, cost efficiency, and operational excellence.
The candidate should possess strong technical expertise in product development, assembly processes, process engineering, production ramp-up, and cross-functional project management within a manufacturing environment, preferably in the Home Appliances industry.
Key ResponsibilitiesNew Product Introduction (NPI) Leadership
- Lead end-to-end NPI activities from concept validation and design freeze through pilot production and mass manufacturing.
- Develop and execute comprehensive NPI strategies to ensure successful product launches.
- Drive pilot builds, engineering trials, production validations, and production ramp-up activities.
- Ensure new products are launched on time, within budget, and achieve defined quality and performance targets.
- Establish robust launch readiness reviews and risk mitigation plans.
Manufacturing & Process Engineering Excellence
- Design and optimize manufacturing processes, assembly lines, tooling, jigs, fixtures, and plant layouts.
- Lead line balancing, cycle time optimization, capacity planning, and productivity improvement initiatives.
- Drive Design for Manufacturability (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA) practices.
- Identify manufacturing risks proactively and implement preventive actions before SOP (Start of Production).
- Improve operational efficiency, throughput, and production stability.
Cross-Functional Project Management
- Collaborate closely with Design, R&D, Quality, Purchase, Supply Chain, Stores, Production, and Vendor Development teams.
- Act as the primary manufacturing interface for design changes, engineering change notices (ECNs), and process improvements.
- Lead project review meetings and ensure timely closure of critical action items.
- Coordinate with suppliers for tooling readiness, component validation, pilot trials, and production approvals.
Quality & Validation Management
- Lead DFMEA, PFMEA, Control Plans, Process Validation, and Product Qualification activities.
- Ensure successful execution of pilot builds, pre-production runs, and production validation.
- Drive root cause analysis and implementation of permanent corrective actions for launch-related issues.
- Ensure adherence to quality standards, regulatory requirements, and customer expectations.
Documentation, Training & Knowledge Transfer
- Establish and maintain manufacturing documentation, SOPs, process flow diagrams, work instructions, and inspection standards.
- Develop training programs for production teams and manufacturing personnel.
- Ensure seamless transfer of NPI projects into stable mass production.
- Capture and institutionalize project learnings and best practices.
Continuous Improvement & Cost Optimization
- Drive Lean Manufacturing, Kaizen, Six Sigma, and Value Engineering initiatives.
- Identify opportunities for productivity improvement, cost reduction, and process optimization.
- Enhance launch effectiveness, first-pass yield, and operational excellence metrics.
- Lead strategic initiatives to improve quality, efficiency, and customer satisfaction.
Qualification
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Production Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or related discipline.
- Master's Degree will be an added advantage.
Experience
- Minimum 10+ years of experience in NPI, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or Product Industrialization.
- Proven experience in leading complex NPI projects and production launches.
- Strong background in Home Appliances, Consumer Durables, Electrical Products, Sheet Metal, or Assembly-Based Manufacturing industries.
- Experience managing cross-functional teams and large-scale product launch programs.
Essential Skills
- Expert knowledge of New Product Introduction (NPI) methodologies.
- Strong expertise in Manufacturing Engineering and Production Systems.
- Advanced understanding of DFMEA, PFMEA, APQP, Control Plans, and Process Validation.
- Excellent knowledge of DFM, DFA, Lean Manufacturing, Kaizen, and Six Sigma principles.
- Strong project management and stakeholder management skills.
- Proven capability in production ramp-up, line setup, and launch stabilization.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and root cause analysis skills.
- Strong leadership, communication, and team development capabilities.
- ERP and Manufacturing Systems knowledge preferred.
