Position Profile – GIS Service Engineer
We are looking for a skilled and motivated GIS Service Engineer with hands-on expertise in high-voltage equipment. The selected candidate will be responsible for the installation, commissioning, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of Gas Insulated Switchgear (GIS) up to 420kV.
This role requires strong technical knowledge, problem-solving capability, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a field service team.

Key Responsibilities
- Carry out preventive maintenance and routine servicing of GIS systems to ensure reliable operation and minimize downtime.
- Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair GIS equipment, including replacement of faulty components and post-repair testing.
- Perform on-site testing and diagnostics using specialized tools to evaluate system performance and safety.
- Provide technical support to customers during operation, shutdowns, and critical situations.
- Ensure accurate documentation of service activities, including repairs, upgrades, and modifications.
- Conduct periodic site audits to improve execution quality and reduce non-conformities (NCC).
- Follow all safety standards, procedures, and IEC guidelines, ensuring zero incidents during site execution.
- Coordinate effectively with customers to understand requirements and resolve technical concerns.
- Be available for on-call support during emergencies or critical issues.
- Willingness to travel up to 80% for domestic and international projects.
Technical Expertise
Strong knowledge of Gas Insulated Switchgear (GIS) and high-voltage systems- Hands-on experience with diagnostic and testing equipment such as:
- CRM kit, CB timing kit, DCRM test kit
- SF6 gas analyzer and gas handling systems
- HV PD test kit, CPC 100, CT analyzer, etc.
- Ability to interpret electrical schematics, single-line diagrams, and circuit designs
Education
B.E./B.Tech or Diploma in Electrical Engineering
Experience
Minimum 4–5 years of hands-on experience in GIS or similar high-voltage switchgear systems, including installation, commissioning, and maintenance.
Soft Skills
Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills- Good communication skills to interact with customers and explain technical issues clearly
- Ability to work under pressure and manage time effectively in field environments
- Team player with the ability to work independently at site locations
