Reports to: Driver's In-charge Vehicle: Tata Tigor EV (electric, automatic) Compensation: ₹25000 per month.
Electry5 is actively building a mixed-gender driving team and particularly welcomes applications from women.
About the role
You will drive one of Electry5's electric cars on daily duty around Chennai and the surrounding districts, covering roughly 150 km on a typical day. The car is fully electric — no gears, no clutch, no engine noise, no fuel station.
Driving an EV is easier than driving a petrol or diesel car, but it is not identical. Range replaces the fuel gauge, the brake pedal is used less because lifting off the accelerator slows the car and puts charge back into the battery, and the car is silent enough that pedestrians often do not hear you approaching. We will train you on all of it. Previous EV experience is welcome but not required.
What you will do
- Drive assigned duties safely and on time across Chennai and nearby districts
- Plan the day's route with battery range in mind and flag in advance if a duty will not fit within the available charge
- Plug the car in at the end of every shift and follow the charging routine you are given
- Complete the daily vehicle check — tyres, lights, brakes, cleanliness, cabin condition — and report anything wrong the same day
- Keep the trip and charging records the operations team asks for, using the phone app provided
- Represent Electry5 courteously to every passenger and client
What you need
Essential
- Valid LMV (light motor vehicle) driving licence.
- Commercial driving badge, or willingness to obtain one — we will support the process
- Sound knowledge of Chennai roads and routes
- Fluent Tamil; enough English or Hindi to help a passenger who speaks neither
- A working smartphone
- Clean driving record, and willingness to undergo a background and licence verification
Helpful, not essential
- Previous experience driving for a fleet, a cab operator, or a corporate
- Previous EV driving experience
- Basic familiarity with using a maps app on a phone

Working pattern
- Six days a week, Monday to Friday
- Duty hours confirmed at the time of offer; any change is agreed in advance, not imposed on the day
- Overtime and outstation duties are voluntary and paid separately
