Job Summary:
We are seeking a Lab Technical Assistant for the Applied Science Department to support laboratory operations, practical sessions, and scientific experimentation activities. The candidate will assist faculty members in conducting laboratory classes, preparing laboratory materials and equipment, guiding students during experiments, and ensuring proper maintenance and safety within the laboratories. The role requires sound knowledge of laboratory practices, scientific instruments, chemical handling, and documentation procedures.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist faculty members in conducting practical classes and laboratory sessions for Applied Science students.
- Prepare laboratory equipment, apparatus, chemicals, specimens, and materials before practical sessions.
- Support students during Physics, Chemistry, and Applied Science experiments, practical activities, and project work.
- Demonstrate proper handling and operation of laboratory instruments, scientific equipment, and experimental procedures.
- Assist in the preparation of chemical solutions, experimental setups, and scientific demonstrations.
- Ensure proper maintenance, calibration, servicing, and safe operation of laboratory equipment and instruments.
- Maintain records of laboratory inventory, consumables, chemicals, equipment usage, and maintenance schedules.
- Monitor laboratory activities and ensure adherence to laboratory safety procedures and discipline.
- Support workshops, exhibitions, and practical examinations conducted by the department.
- Maintain cleanliness, organization, and safety within laboratory premises.
- Coordinate with faculty members and department staff for the smooth functioning of laboratory activities.
Desired Candidate Qualification
- B.Sc in Physics / Chemistry / Applied Science – mandatory.
- 1–3 years of experience in laboratory assistance or technical support activities.
- Strong knowledge of laboratory practices, scientific instruments, and chemical handling procedures.
- Ability to handle laboratory equipment and assist students during practical sessions effectively.
- Good understanding of laboratory safety standards and maintenance procedures.
- Basic computer knowledge and documentation skills.
- Good communication and coordination skills.
- Ability to maintain records and laboratory documentation accurately.
- Attention to detail and adherence to safety standards.
- Experience in educational institutions/polytechnic/engineering colleges is preferred.
