Quality Control Engineer – Copper Pipe Manufacturing
Job Summary
We are looking for a Quality Control Engineer to monitor and maintain product quality in our copper pipe manufacturing process. The candidate will be responsible for inspection, testing, process monitoring, identifying defects, and ensuring that finished products meet customer specifications and applicable quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
● Perform incoming, in-process, and final inspection of copper pipes and raw materials.
● Monitor quality at different stages of the manufacturing process, including tube forming, drawing, annealing, sizing, straightening, and finishing.
● Check OD, ID, wall thickness, length, ovality, straightness, and surface finish as per specifications.
● Inspect copper raw materials and verify material certificates.
● Identify and analyze defects such as cracks, scratches, dents, pinholes, dimensional variation, and surface defects.
● Conduct or coordinate hardness, tensile, elongation, leak/pressure, and other required tests.
● Maintain inspection reports, test reports, rejection records, and other quality documentation.
● Perform Root Cause Analysis (RCA) for quality issues and implement corrective and preventive actions.
● Coordinate with Production, Maintenance, and other departments to resolve quality problems.
● Monitor process parameters and ensure compliance with defined quality standards.
● Support customer complaints and conduct corrective action investigations.
● Assist in internal, customer, and certification audits.
● Ensure proper calibration and use of measuring and testing instruments.
● Support continuous improvement activities to reduce rejection, rework, and customer complaints.
Required Skills
● Good knowledge of copper and non-ferrous metal manufacturing processes.
● Knowledge of copper pipe/tube inspection and testing.
● Good understanding of engineering drawings, specifications, and tolerances.
● Hands-on experience with Vernier Caliper, Micrometer, Bore Gauge, Gauges, and other measuring instruments.
● Knowledge of 7 QC Tools, 5 Why, Fishbone Analysis, CAPA, and RCA.
● Knowledge of quality standards such as ISO 9001, ASTM, EN, or relevant copper tube standards will be an advantage.
● Good analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
● Proficiency in MS Excel and quality documentation.
Qualification & Experience
● Diploma / B.E. / B.Tech in Mechanical, Metallurgy, Production, or Industrial Engineering.
● Experience: 1–5 years in Quality Control/Quality Assurance, preferably in copper, brass, aluminium, metal, tube, or pipe manufacturing.
● Freshers with relevant technical knowledge may also be considered.
