Overview

Duties
- Prepare, analyze, and interpret financial statements in accordance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and regulatory requirements.
- Manage general ledger accounting, including journal entries, account reconciliation, and month-end closing processes.
- Conduct balance sheet reconciliations and ensure accuracy of accounts receivable and payable.
- Oversee accounts payable and payroll functions, ensuring timely processing and compliance with tax regulations.
- Perform cash flow analysis, budgeting, forecasting, and financial report writing to support strategic planning.
- Maintain expertise in technical accounting areas such as SOX (Sarbanes-Oxley Act compliance), LIHTC (Low-Income Housing Tax Credit), and governmental accounting standards.
- Utilize advanced accounting software including QuickBooks, Sage, Xero, PeopleSoft, and other financial management tools for efficient operations.
- Assist with internal audits, external audits, and regulatory reporting to uphold transparency and accountability.
- Mentor junior team members in accounting best practices, fostering a culture of continuous learning and development.
- Support special projects related to non-profit accounting, securities law compliance, or private equity transactions as needed.
Skills
- Strong knowledge of GAAP, technical accounting standards, and regulatory frameworks such as SOX and securities law.
- Proficiency with accounting software including QuickBooks, Sage, Xero, PeopleSoft, and Quicken.
- Expertise in financial concepts like double entry bookkeeping, accrual accounting, journal entries, and account reconciliation.
- Demonstrated ability in financial report writing, interpretation of financial statements, and financial analysis.
- Experience with governmental or non-profit accounting practices is highly desirable.
- Excellent skills in Microsoft Excel for data analysis, budgeting, forecasting and account analysis.
- Solid understanding of tax regulations related to payroll and corporate finance activities.
- Ability to mentor team members effectively while managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
