We are looking for a skilled and experienced Fitter with hands-on expertise in boilers, pressure vessels, tanks, sheet metal components, and piping systems. The ideal candidate should have a strong understanding of welding processes, industrial safety practices, and fabrication standards, and must be capable of delivering high-quality workmanship in a manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Read and interpret engineering drawings, fabrication sketches, and welding symbols.
- Perform fit-up, assembly, and alignment of pressure vessels, tanks, sheet metal structures, and pipe spools.
- Work closely with welders to ensure components are properly prepared for welding and meet tolerance requirements.
- Carry out marking, cutting, grinding, drilling, and tack welding as required.
- Fit and assemble components using correct tools, jigs, and fixtures.
- Ensure all fabrication work complies with ASME standards, shop procedures, and quality requirements.
- Inspect completed assemblies to verify accuracy, dimensions, and finish.
- Maintain a safe work environment by following all HSE procedures and reporting hazards.
- Coordinate with supervisors and production teams to meet daily targets and deadlines.
- Perform routine maintenance on tools and equipment used during fitting activities.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Proven experience in fabrication of boilers, pressure vessels, tanks, sheet metal parts, and piping systems.
- Strong knowledge of welding techniques (SMAW, MIG, TIG basics), welding joint preparations, and fit-up practices.
- Ability to interpret technical drawings, tolerances, and material specifications.
- Knowledge of industrial safety procedures, PPE usage, and handling heavy equipment.
- Proficiency in using power tools, marking tools, grinders, cutting machines, and measuring instruments (vernier, tape, levels, angle finder).
- Basic understanding of fabrication standards such as ASME, IS codes, or industry norms.
- Good physical fitness and ability to work in a fast-paced industrial environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- ITI / Diploma in Fitter, Mechanical, Fabrication, or related field.
- Experience in heavy fabrication workshops or manufacturing industries.
- Familiarity with hydrotesting, NDT preparation, and QA/QC requirements.
