- Patient Assessment
- Receive and register patients.
- Record vital signs (temperature, pulse, respiration, blood pressure).
- Assess patient complaints and medical history.
- Prepare patients for examination by the doctor.
- Clinical Assistance
- Assist physicians during examinations and minor procedures.
- Prepare and maintain examination rooms and equipment.
- Collect specimens for laboratory investigations when required.
- Medication and Treatment
- Administer prescribed medications, injections, and vaccinations.
- Perform wound dressing and basic treatments.
- Monitor patients for adverse reactions or complications.
- Patient Education
- Explain treatment plans and medication instructions.
- Educate patients about disease prevention and health promotion.
- Provide discharge and follow-up care instructions.
- Documentation
- Maintain accurate patient records and nursing notes.
- Update electronic medical records (EMR) or patient charts.
- Ensure confidentiality of patient information.
- Coordination and Communication
- Coordinate appointments, referrals, and follow-up visits.
- Communicate with doctors, laboratory staff, pharmacists, and other healthcare professionals.
- Manage patient flow within the OPD.
- Infection Control and Safety
- Follow infection prevention protocols.
- Ensure cleanliness and sterilization of equipment.
- Maintain a safe environment for patients and staff.
Required Qualifications
- Diploma, B.Sc., or GNM in Nursing.
- Valid nursing registration/licensure.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (preferred by many employers).
- Knowledge of outpatient care procedures and medical documentation.
