Job SummaryAs a Welder Fabricator at SSEGPL, you will be responsible for fabricating, fitting, and welding heavy metal components used to manufacture high-pressure pipeline machinery. This role requires a high degree of precision, strong structural fabrication skills, expertise in working with heavy mild steel, and proficiency in multiple welding processes (MIG, TIG, and Stick).
Key Responsibilities
- Heavy Structural Fabrication: Cut, shape, fit, and align heavy metal sheets and mild steel frames for pipeline rollers, clamps, and cradles using shop tools, plasma cutters, and grinders.
- Precision Welding: Perform continuous 360° and code-compliant welds (GMAW/MIG, GTAW/TIG, SMAW/Stick) capable of withstanding industrial pressures and heavy loads.
- Blueprint Reading: Interpret mechanical drawings, engineering schematics, and structural welding symbols to set up precise layouts and dimensional sequences.
- Machinery Setup: Assist in the structural assembly of complex equipment such as hydraulic internal lineup clamps and heavy pipe stands.
- Quality & Code Compliance: Conduct thorough visual inspections of your own welds to ensure structural integrity and flawless fit-up before quality testing.
- Safety & Maintenance: Adhere strictly to workspace safety protocols, use required PPE (welding shields, safety shoes), and safely operate overhead workshop material-handling tools.
Qualifications and Skills
- Experience: 2 to 5 years of professional welding and structural heavy-metal fabrication experience (experience in an oil & gas equipment manufacturing plant or pressure vessel shop is highly preferred).
- Welding Proficiencies: Expert knowledge of MIG/GMAW welding, with sound competency in TIG and Stick welding methods.
- Technical Skills: Excellent blueprint-reading capabilities and accuracy with engineering measurement tools (calipers, rulers, angle gauges).
- Tool Handling: Proven experience operating heavy-duty workshop machinery like band saws, press brakes, drilling machines, and grinders.
- Physical Fitness: Ability to stand for long shifts, lift and maneuver heavy metal materials, and work in varied workshop conditions.
- Certifications: ITI in Welding or a relevant trade certification is preferred. AWS or equivalent structural code welding certifications are a distinct advantage.
Pay: ₹9,866.15 - ₹25,000.00 per month
