We’re looking for a motivated final-year Diploma (Electrical Engineering) student for a full-time internship (2–6 months). The intern will assist the solar design team with PV system layout, single-line diagrams, electrical calculations, BOM preparation, and site survey support. This role is ideal for students seeking real-world experience in solar design, electrical safety, and solar project workflows.
Key responsibilities
- Assist in designing grid-connected and off-grid solar PV systems, including array layout and module/string configuration.
- Prepare single-line diagrams (SLD), AC/DC load calculations, earthing/grounding designs, and cable sizing.
- Support creation of Bills of Materials (BOM), equipment selection (inverters, modules, cables, protection devices), and preliminary cost estimates.
- Conduct or support site visits and surveys: take measurements, photos, and notes for design inputs.
- Produce CAD drawings and panel schedules and update as-built documentation.
- Run basic PV performance estimates, energy yield and simple shading analysis using company tools.
- Ensure designs comply with local electrical codes, safety standards, and utility interconnection requirements.
- Help prepare technical documentation for proposals, client reports, and tender submissions.
- Coordinate with procurement, site teams, and engineers to resolve design queries.
- Participate in team meetings and training; document learning and contribute to process improvements.
Required qualifications and skills
- Currently pursuing a final-year Diploma in Electrical Engineering or have completed.
- Available full-time for a continuous 2–6 month internship.
- Basic understanding of electrical circuits, power systems, and AC/DC principles.
- Familiarity with CAD software (AutoCAD or similar) and MS Excel.
- Good analytical skills and comfort with basic electrical calculations (load, cable sizing, protection).
- Strong communication skills, professional attitude, and willingness to work on-site when required.
- Basic knowledge of switchgear, protection relays, and earthing systems.
- Local candidates preferred (ability to commute/relocate within project locations).
What we offer
- Stipend (competitive; details during interview).
- Hands-on mentorship from experienced solar engineers.
- Real project exposure: from site survey to design, procurement, and installation support.
- Letter of recommendation and certificate on successful completion.
- Opportunity for future full-time employment based on performance.
