Fashion Merchandising & Product Development Intern
Nordo is a premium fashion design house seeking a driven and capable intern to support its fashion merchandising and product-development functions.
This opportunity is intended for someone who wants to build a serious career in the fashion industry and gain practical exposure to the development of real products and projects. The role is primarily merchandising-focused, while also offering involvement in the creative and design-development process.
We value professionalism, creativity, organisation, attention to detail and the desire to produce exceptional work. Candidates who demonstrate these qualities will be given the opportunity to take on progressively greater responsibility.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with day-to-day fashion merchandising and product-development activities.
- Maintain product-development trackers, sampling schedules, approval records and project timelines.
- Coordinate and follow up with designers, vendors, fabric and trim suppliers, sampling teams and production partners.
- Track fabrics, trims, lab dips, strike-offs, samples, revisions and approvals through the development process.
- Assist in preparing and maintaining range sheets, specification sheets, bills of materials, sample comments and other product documentation.
- Review samples and product details against approved designs, specifications and references, and identify discrepancies requiring correction.
- Assist with fabric, trim and product sourcing based on design and project requirements.
- Conduct research on fabrics, trims, garment details, market developments, competitors and relevant fashion trends.
- Support the preparation of mood boards, presentations and other design-development material where required.
- Maintain organised physical and digital records of designs, fabrics, trims, samples and project files.
- Assist with sample movement, submissions, dispatches and related documentation.
- Support the team with other merchandising and product-development requirements as projects progress.
Required Skills and Attributes
- Strong attention to detail and an ability to identify inconsistencies or errors.
- Good organisational skills and the ability to maintain accurate records and follow-ups.
- Professional conduct, reliability and a responsible approach to assigned work.
- Clear written and verbal communication skills.
- Creativity and a genuine interest in fashion, product development and garment merchandising.
- Ability to manage multiple assigned tasks and priorities under guidance.
- Willingness to learn, accept feedback and take ownership of work.
- Basic working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint and Word.
- Basic understanding of garment construction, fabrics, trims and apparel-development processes.
- Discretion when handling client information, designs and other confidential material.

- Currently pursuing or recently having completed a degree or diploma in Fashion Merchandising, Fashion Design, Apparel Production or a related discipline.
- Previous internship or relevant work experience with a design house, buying house, export house, fashion brand, garment manufacturer or similar organisation.
- Familiarity with sampling, product documentation, sourcing or vendor coordination.
- Working knowledge of Adobe Illustrator or Photoshop would be advantageous.
- Familiarity with CLO 3D or similar fashion-development software would be an added advantage but is not essential.
Preference will be given to candidates who have already completed at least one relevant internship or gained comparable practical industry experience.
The Opportunity
- Gain hands-on experience across fashion merchandising, sampling and product development within a premium design house.
- Contribute to live projects rather than working solely on training exercises.
- Understand how products progress from an initial brief through development, sampling and execution.
- Work closely with experienced industry professionals and receive guidance based on actual project requirements.
- Take on greater responsibility as your abilities, consistency and professional judgement develop.
This internship represents a genuine potential pathway to a full-time role at Nordo. Candidates who distinguish themselves through the quality of their work, initiative, creativity, attention to detail, professionalism and overall contribution may be considered for full-time employment upon completion of the internship.
