Role Overview:
We are seeking an experienced Energy Meter Hardware Designer responsible for the complete hardware development lifecycle of single-phase, three-phase energy meters and LTCT Meter. The role involves schematic design, PCB layout, product validation, regulatory compliance, and field-level troubleshooting for utility-grade metering products.
Job Description
PCB Design & Layout
1. Create multi-layer PCB layouts (2–6 layers) considering:
- EMI / EMC
- Surge, ESD, EFT protection
- Creepage & clearance as per standards
2. Design for high-voltage isolation and safety.
3. Perform DFM / DFA / DFT checks.
4. Coordinate with PCB fabrication and assembly vendors.
Compliance & Standards
1. Ensure compliance with:
- IS 13779 / IS 16444 (Part 1 & 2)
- IEC 62052 / IEC 62053
- IEC 61000 (EMC/EMI)
- CISPR 22 / 32
2. Support testing for:
- Surge (up to 10 kV)
- ESD (±8 / ±15 kV) o EFT / Burst
- Magnetic influence (0.5T DC)
- HV / Spark testing
3. Product Design & Validation
- Support industrial design integration (enclosure constraints, thermal, isolation).
- Conduct prototype bring-up, debugging, and functional validation.
- Perform design reviews and implement corrective actions.
- Support type testing, NABL lab coordination, and certification.
Troubleshooting & Field Support
1. Debug hardware issues at prototype, pilot, and mass-production stages.
2. Analyze failures from:
- Manufacturing
- Environmental stress
- Field installations
3. Support root cause analysis (RCA) and corrective/preventive actions (CAPA).
Documentation & Collaboration
Prepare:
- Design documents
- Schematics & PCB release notes
- BOM and test procedures
Work closely with:
- Firmware team
- Mechanical / enclosure designers
- Manufacturing & QA teams
Support vendor technical discussions.
Required Skills & Qualifications
Technical Skills
1. Strong expertise in schematic capture and PCB design tools:
- Altium Designer / OrCAD / Eagle / KiCad
2. Hands-on experience with:
- Energy metering circuits
- High-voltage & low-power mixed-signal design
3. Good understanding of:
- EMI/EMC mitigation techniques
- Surge & ESD protection design
4. Experience in prototype bring-up and troubleshooting.
Key Responsibilities:
Hardware Design & Development
Design and develop schematics and PCB layouts for energy meters (Single Phase / Three Phase/LTCT Meter).
Select and validate components including:
- Metrology ICs
- Microcontrollers / SoCs
- Communication modules (RF, ,Cellular-NB-IoT, LTE, RS485, Optical port)
- Power supply (SMPS, LDOs)
Design circuits for:
- Voltage & current sensing (CT, Shunt, Rogowski)
- RTC, EEPROM, Flash
- Tamper detection (Magnetic, Neutral disturbance, Earth leakage) Ensure designs meet accuracy class requirements (Class 0.5S / 1.0).

Preferred / Added Advantage
- Experience in Smart Meters / AMI / DLMS / COSEM ecosystem
- Knowledge of optical communication (IEC 62056-21)
- Exposure to mass production and quality issues
- Experience with utility approvals (DISCOMs in India)

Pay: ₹276,793.69 - ₹1,300,000.87 per year
