Job Summary : An X-ray technician is responsible for performing diagnostic radiographic imaging to support physicians in diagnosing and treating general conditions.
Key Responsibility:
· Conduct X-ray imaging of patients as prescribed by doctors, ensuring correct positioning and exposure for diagnostic results.
· Prepare patients for imaging procedures, explain processes, and support patient comfort throughout the procedure.
· Operate digital or analogue X-ray machines, calibrate equipment, and maintain radiology apparatus and accessories.
· Apply strict radiation safety and protection protocols for patients, self, and staff, utilizing protective gear and following AERB guidelines.
· Develop X-ray films, validate image quality, and prepare reports for physician review.
· Document imaging procedures and maintain accurate patient records in accordance with hospital and statutory regulations.
· Report equipment malfunctions and coordinate timely repairs or maintenance with technical staff.
· Support radiologists with diagnostic images and collaborate for further diagnostic interventions as needed.
· Work closely with radiologists, technicians, support staff to ensure timely imaging, correct protocols and coordinate any special views or imaging needs unique to ocular.
· Handle digital/image transfer systems: ensure images are correctly labelled, stored, transmitted to radiologist for interpretation
Qualification:
· Diploma in Radiography / Diploma in X-Ray Technology / Radiological Technology or B.Sc. in Radiography / Imaging Technology.
· Valid registration with the relevant State/Indian regulatory body for radiology technicians.
Experience:
1. Overall Experience: 3 Years experience in a hospital radiology/imaging department, ideally with exposure to ophthalmology/ENT/Head-&-Neck imaging.
2. Relevant Experience: 2 years machine operation, image processing, film development, and radiology software/documentation; strong understanding of radiation safety.
3. Age: Minimum 21 – 25 yrs.
4. Familiarity with digital radiography systems, image-processing software, PACS/EMR environment is a plus.
5. Exposure to imaging equipment (X-ray machine) and radiation; must adhere to safety guidelines and wear protective gear
6. Freshers are also applicable.
Soft Skills:
1. Clearly explain procedures, answer questions, and alleviate patient anxieties during imaging.
2. Exhibit compassion and patience, particularly when handling elderly or vision-impaired patients.
3. Ensure accuracy in positioning, exposure settings, and image interpretation to prevent diagnostic errors or retakes.
4. Maintain privacy by securing patient records and adhering to hospital protocols for sensitive information.
5. Resolve equipment or procedural issues promptly, respond to emergencies, and adapt to changing scenarios efficiently.
Technical Skills:
1. Expertly operate X-ray machines, digital imaging systems, and related accessories per established protocols.
2. Apply standards for radiation protection, including the use of shielding devices and compliance with AERB rules.
3. Precisely position patients to obtain optimal diagnostic images as directed by physicians.
4. Develop and process radiographic films or digital images, ensuring correct labelling, clarity, and archival.
5. Accurately document imaging details, maintain patient files, and update electronic health records as needed.
6. Perform routine checks, report malfunctions, and assist in minor troubleshooting of X-ray systems.
7. Assist in obtaining specialized views and participate in diagnostic interventions when requested.
