A PVC pipe fitter and plastic welder installs, joins, and maintains plastic piping systems, performing core duties like reading blueprints, cutting and solvent-cementing or heat-welding PVC pipes, and testing systems for leaks.
Key Responsibilities
- Reading Plans: Reviewing blueprints, isometric drawings, and project specifications to plan the pipe layout and route.
- Measuring and Cutting: Accurately measuring, marking, and cutting PVC pipes using hand saws, wheel cutters, or power saws.
- Joining and Welding: Assembling pipe sections using PVC solvent cement (solvent welding) or thermal plastic welding equipment (such as hot gas or extrusion welding).
- Securing Systems: Installing brackets, clamps, and hangers to support and secure piping to walls, ceilings, or structural frames.
- Testing and Repair: Conducting pressure or leak tests using air or water gauges, and repairing or replacing damaged pipe sections.
Job Requirements
- Skills: Strong mechanical aptitude, precision measuring skills, and knowledge of plastic joining and thermal welding techniques.
- Knowledge: Understanding of safety protocols for handling chemical solvents and operating power or heating tools.
- Physical Strength: Ability to stand for long hours, lift heavy materials, and work in tight spaces or awkward positions.
- Qualifications: High school diploma or GED, plus relevant trade certification, apprenticeship, or proven field experience in commercial, residential, or industrial plumbing/piping.
Pay: ₹15,000.00 - ₹25,000.00 per month
