The New Product Development (NPD) Engineer is responsible for designing, developing, validating, and launching new products from concept to mass production. The role involves coordinating with cross-functional teams including Design, Manufacturing, Quality, Procurement, and Customers to ensure products meet quality, cost, and delivery objectives.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead new product development projects from concept through production.
- Review customer requirements, specifications, and technical drawings.
- Develop product designs using CAD software (SolidWorks, AutoCAD, CATIA, Creo, etc.).
- Prepare engineering drawings, BOMs, and technical documentation.
- Conduct feasibility studies, design reviews, and risk assessments.
- Coordinate prototype manufacturing and product validation.
- Plan and execute Design Verification (DV) and Product Validation (PV) testing.
- Work closely with Production to ensure smooth product transfer into manufacturing.
- Collaborate with suppliers for component development and qualification.
- Support tooling development, fixture design, and process optimization.
- Perform root cause analysis for product-related issues using 8D, Fishbone, 5 Why, etc.
- Ensure compliance with customer, industry, and regulatory standards.
- Participate in APQP, PPAP, FMEA, Control Plan, and Process Flow preparation.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to reduce cost and improve product performance.
- Monitor project timelines, budgets, and deliverables.
