Role Objective
To operate, program, and maintain robotic welding systems for precision joining of metal components, ensuring compliance with engineering specifications, productivity targets, and safety standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate and monitor robotic welding machines (MIG/MAG, TIG, Spot, SAW).
- Program welding robots using teach pendant or offline programming software.
- Set welding parameters: voltage, current, wire feed speed, travel speed, and torch angles.
- Align fixtures, jigs, and workpieces according to engineering drawings and weld maps.
- Inspect weld quality (penetration, bead profile, spatter control) and make adjustments.
- Perform preventive maintenance on robotic arms, controllers, and welding torches.
- Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and software issues in robotic welding systems.
- Ensure compliance with ISO, ASME, AWS welding standards.
- Document production logs, welding parameters, and maintenance records.
Technical Skills
- Proficiency in robotic welding processes (MIG/MAG, TIG, Spot Welding, SAW).
- Knowledge of robot programming languages (Fanuc, ABB, KUKA, Yaskawa).
- Ability to interpret blueprints, weld symbols, and fabrication drawings.
- Familiarity with PLC-controlled automation systems.
- Understanding of metallurgy, heat input control, and distortion management.
- Competence in safety practices: PPE usage, fume extraction, and fire prevention.
Qualifications
- ITI/Diploma in Mechanical, Welding, Mechatronics, or Automation Technology.
- 2–5 years of experience in robotic welding or automation industry.
- Certification in robot programming and welding standards preferred.
