NURSING STAFF – JOB DESCRIPTION

Position: Nursing Staff / Staff Nurse
Reports To: Nursing In-charge / Nursing Superintendent / RMO
1. Job Summary
The Nursing Staff is responsible for providing safe, compassionate, and quality nursing care to patients. The role includes monitoring patient conditions, administering medications and treatments as prescribed, maintaining accurate documentation, assisting doctors, and ensuring compliance with hospital policies and nursing standards.
2. Key ResponsibilitiesPatient Care
- Assess and monitor patients regularly and report changes in condition immediately.
- Provide proper nursing care according to the patient's condition and doctor's instructions.
- Check and record vital signs such as BP, pulse, temperature, SpO₂, and respiratory rate.
- Maintain patient comfort, hygiene, nutrition, and safety.
- Assist patients with daily activities as required.
Medication & Treatment
- Administer medicines, injections, IV fluids, and other treatments as prescribed.
- Follow the Five Rights of Medication Administration.
- Monitor patients for adverse drug reactions and report immediately.
- Maintain proper medication records and ensure medication safety.
Doctor & Clinical Support
- Assist doctors during rounds, procedures, emergencies, and other clinical activities.
- Prepare patients for investigations, procedures, and surgeries.
- Collect and properly label specimens when required.
- Communicate relevant patient information to doctors and senior nursing staff.
Documentation
- Maintain accurate nursing notes, treatment records, medication charts, and patient files.
- Complete all required nursing documentation before the end of the shift.
- Maintain proper handover to the next shift.
- Ensure patient records are complete, accurate, and confidential.
Infection Control & Safety
- Follow hospital infection-control policies and standard precautions.
- Maintain proper hand hygiene and use PPE appropriately.
- Follow biomedical waste management procedures.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and hygienic patient-care environment.
- Follow emergency and fire-safety procedures.
Emergency & Critical Care Support
- Respond promptly to emergency situations.
- Assist in CPR and emergency procedures as trained.
- Ensure emergency equipment and supplies are available and ready for use.
- Immediately escalate any deterioration in the patient's condition.
Communication & Teamwork
- Communicate respectfully with patients and their relatives.
- Maintain patient confidentiality and professional behaviour.
- Coordinate effectively with doctors, nursing staff, technicians, housekeeping, and other departments.
- Provide proper shift handover and maintain continuity of patient care.
3. Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
- Accuracy and completeness of nursing documentation.
- Timely administration of medicines and treatments.
- Compliance with infection-control practices.
- Patient safety and reduction of nursing-related errors.
- Timely monitoring and reporting of abnormal vital signs.
- Proper shift handover and communication.
- Patient/relative satisfaction.
- Attendance, punctuality, and shift discipline.
- Compliance with hospital SOPs and nursing protocols.
- Proper handling of medical equipment and supplies.
4. Qualification & Experience
- Qualification: GNM / B.Sc. Nursing / ANM as applicable to the position.
- Valid nursing registration as required.
- Freshers may be considered depending on hospital requirements.
- Previous hospital experience will be an advantage.
- ICU/OT/Emergency experience preferred for specialized nursing positions.

Note: The Nursing Staff must perform all duties according to the patient's condition, doctor's orders, hospital policies, and applicable nursing standards.
Pay: ₹8,086.00 - ₹25,000.00 per month
