Job Summary
The County Project Manager is responsible for leading and executing all field operations within the assigned county. The role focuses on managing large field teams, ensuring successful farmer onboarding, coordinating with the Indian Agronomy Operations Center (AOC), monitoring field performance, and driving operational excellence across the agricultural ecosystem.
This is primarily an operations leadership role rather than a technical agronomy position. The successful candidate will ensure that field execution aligns with organizational standards while maintaining strong relationships with farmers and local stakeholders.
The position requires the employee to relocate to and work in Africa for the duration of the project. The selected candidate must be willing to travel internationally, reside at the project location, and undertake extensive field travel within the assigned country as required to ensure successful project execution.
Key Responsibilities
Field Operations
- Manage and supervise Farmer Buddies and field teams.
- Ensure daily field movement and activity planning.
- Monitor farmer onboarding targets and field execution.
- Resolve operational issues and escalate critical matters.
- Ensure timely execution of agricultural programs.
Team Leadership
- Recruit, coach, motivate, and monitor field personnel.
- Conduct regular performance reviews.
- Organize field training sessions.
- Improve productivity and retention of Farmer Buddies.
Coordination with Indian AOC
- Participate in daily and weekly review meetings.
- Execute instructions received from the Indian AOC.
- Submit daily MIS and progress reports.
- Escalate operational challenges promptly.
- Ensure field execution complies with AOC standards.
Farmer Engagement
- Build relationships with farmers and local communities.
- Support farmer registration and onboarding.
- Ensure quality advisory delivery.
- Improve farmer satisfaction and participation.
Digital Operations
Manage and monitor digital workflows including:
- Farmer Registration
- Farm Mapping
- Subscription Activation
- Service Requests
- Equipment Rental Booking
- Input Purchase Tracking
- Produce Aggregation
- Finance Application Process
Monitoring & Reporting
- Track KPIs and field productivity.
- Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly reports.
- Monitor dashboard performance.
- Analyze operational bottlenecks and recommend improvements.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Agriculture, Agribusiness, Rural Development, Business Administration, or related field.
- 3-5 years of experience managing rural field operations.
- Experience managing teams of 20+ field staff.
- Experience in Agriculture, FMCG Rural Distribution, Microfinance, Telecom Field Sales, NGO Rural Programs, or Agri Extension.
- Has a passport.
- Proficient in English.
