Business Unit: EPS Mobility
Role: Business Head - Motor
The Business Head– Motor will lead the end?to?end business for EV traction motors across target segments (2W/3W/Passenger/LCV/Industrial), owning P&L, strategy and product portfolio, go?to?market, supply chain and operations readiness, quality & safety outcomes, and customer partnerships. You’ll scale the BU from concept to sustained profitability—balancing technology leadership with cost, delivery, and reliability at volume.
Key Responsibilities
1) Strategy & P&L Ownership
- Define and own the 3–5 year strategy, annual operating plan (AOP), and P&L (revenue, gross margin, EBITDA, working capital).
- Set portfolio positioning, power ranges, and application focus; guide make/buy, insourcing vs. contract manufacturing, and global footprint.
- Establish pricing strategy (platform pricing, volume tiers, design?to?cost targets) and lifecycle management (cost?down curves, EOL).
2) Product & Technology Roadmap
- Build the product roadmap (efficiency, torque density, NVH, thermal performance, reliability, 400/800 V compatibility) aligned to OEM needs and regulations in collaboration with partners and suppliers
- Prioritize R&D investments (electromagnetics, materials, cooling, hairpin winding, advanced insulation, EOL analytics).
Govern gate reviews from concept DV/PV PPAP SOP- ramp, ensuring schedule, quality, and cost adherence.
3) Commercial & Customer Success
- Own order book, funnel, and key accounts; negotiate long?term agreements (LTAs), joint development agreements (JDAs), and warranty/after?sales terms.
- Drive bid strategy (should?cost, target price, value proposition), win themes, and competitive positioning vs. incumbents.
- Ensure voice of customer (VoC) feeds requirements; maintain executive relationships with OEMs, Tier?1s, integrators, and channel partners.
4) Operations, Industrialization & Delivery
- Partner with plants to secure capacity, takt time, OEE, and launch readiness; unblock tooling/automation, line validation (IQ/OQ/PQ), and EOL coverage.
- Champion DFM/DFA, APQP/PPAP on?time, and stable ramp curves; drive FPY, scrap, and changeover improvements.
- Ensure robust S&OP (demand planning, supply planning, inventory/DOH, OTIF).
5) Supply Chain & Cost Leadership
- Co?create commodity strategies (magnets/NdFeB, copper, laminations, die castings, machining, resins), dual?sourcing, and risk hedging.
- Lead VAVE, should?cost, and commercial negotiations to meet Cogs targets; manage long?lead/critical materials with hedging and safety stocks.
6) Quality, Safety, and Compliance
- Own BU outcomes for PPM, FPY, warranty, reliability, and 8D closures.
- Ensure compliance with IATF 16949/ISO 9001, relevant IEC/UL/CE standards, RoHS/REACH, and functional safety interfaces (ISO 26262) as applicable.
- Lead a safety?first culture across processes involving lasers, HV, chemicals/resins, ergonomics, and machine guarding.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical, Electronics or Computer Science Engineering.
- 15+ years total experience with 7+ years in EV motors/e?powertrain or adjacent electro?mechanical manufacturing, including multi?program launches to SOP at scale.
- Proven P&L leadership or BU ownership with measurable revenue growth and margin expansion.
- Strong grasp of motor technologies (PMSM/IPM/SPM, IM/SRM), manufacturing (laminations, hairpin/conventional winding, impregnation, machining, balancing, assembly), and EOL testing.
- Fluency in APQP/PPAP, DFM/DFA, DFMEA/PFMEA, GD&T, and quality systems (IATF 16949/ISO 9001).
- Commercial acumen: pricing, should?cost, VAVE, contracts, and strategic partnerships; strong negotiation and executive communication.Excellent communication, stakeholder management and decision making under ambiguity
