An Ocean Sales Executive in freight forwarding is responsible for generating revenue by acquiring new clients and managing existing accounts for sea freight (FCL/LCL). They bridge the gap between clients' shipping needs and the company's logistics services.
Key Responsibilities
- Client Acquisition: Identify, pursue, and secure new business opportunities to expand the company’s market share in ocean freight.
- Rate Negotiations & Quoting: Liaise with pricing departments, shipping lines, and carriers to secure competitive rates, and prepare tailored proposals for clients.
- Account Management: Maintain and grow relationships with existing clients, ensuring high satisfaction and smooth communication.
- Pipeline Management: Track and maintain a healthy sales pipeline, logging all leads, customer contacts, and opportunities in the company's CRM.
- Internal Collaboration: Partner with operations, documentation, and customer service teams to ensure smooth handovers and cargo execution.
- Market Awareness: Monitor global trade lane trends, competitor activities, and shipping rates.
Qualifications & Skills
- Experience: Typically 2–8 years of B2B sales or business development experience within the international logistics and freight forwarding industry.
- Industry Knowledge: Strong understanding of ocean freight operations, including FCL (Full Container Load) and LCL (Less than Container Load) processes.
- Soft Skills: Excellent negotiation, presentation, and consultative selling abilities.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency with CRM systems and MS Office suite.
