About AM:PM
AM:PM is a VC-backed news platform built for short-form video, reels, and fast threads, for Gen Z and millennials who want to stay informed without sitting through long, slow panels. We go deep without going slow. We understand internet culture because we live in it.
Why this role matters
We’re not building another news app, we’re trying to revolutionize the form.
You’ll define what AM:PM looks and feels like across three product surfaces, and you’ll ship directly with the founding team and CTO.
What you will own
- End-to-end design of the AM:PM app across all three surfaces, wraps, newsroom, discourse
- Design the interaction (opinion / counter-opinion swap) so it feels native, not novel
- Build and maintain the AM:PM design system from the brand foundation up
- Use Claude, Figma, and AI tools to ship faster (startup speed, not agency speed)
- Run usability calls with real Gen Z users and incorporate what you learn
- Work directly with the founding team + CTO to ship what you design (no throw-overs)
- Experiment fast: kill what doesn’t work, double down on what does
Who you are
- 1+ years designing consumer mobile products that shipped to real Gen Z users
- Visual range (not one aesthetic across every project)
- Ships at startup pace (screens and flows move fast)
- High ownership default; doesn’t wait for a brief
- Strong opinions and taste; can defend them and change mind when wrong
- Lives in Figma; uses AI tools to move faster
- Comfortable with motion, prototyping, and system thinking
- Based in Mumbai or willing to relocate within commutable distance (hybrid)
Bonus
- You have shipped or designed for a vertical video product before, you have worked on a Gen Z app (any consumer product targeting 18–30 year olds), or you have a strong personal point of view on what's broken about news apps today.
What we’re not looking for
- Designers who only do “clean minimal”
- Agency-trained pixel pushers who need a full brief
- Fixed-hours mindset (e.g., strict clock-out when something is broken/shipping)
- Portfolios showing one visual language across every project
Pay: ₹400,000.00 - ₹600,000.00 per year
