ABOUT THE ROLE
We are looking for a passionate and skilled Bakery Chef to join the kitchen team at Storii Urvashi's Retreat, Manali. In this role, you will be responsible for producing a daily selection of freshly baked breads, cookies, and tea cakes that reflect the warm, homely character of our property. This is a hands-on, creative role well suited to someone who takes genuine pride in their craft and understands that good baking is as much about consistency and care as it is about technique.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Plan and execute daily baking schedules for breads, tea cakes, and cookies in line with hotel requirements and guest volumes.
- Maintain consistent quality and presentation standards across all baked goods, ensuring freshness for every service.
- Manage mise en place, including weighing, measuring, and preparing all ingredients ahead of each bake.
- Monitor and manage stock levels of baking ingredients; coordinate with the stores team for timely replenishment.
- Ensure proper storage of baked goods, raw ingredients, and perishables in line with food safety standards.
- Keep the bakery station clean, organised, and fully compliant with hygiene and sanitation norms at all times.
- Assist in developing seasonal or occasion-specific baked items as guided by the Head Chef or management.
- Collaborate with the broader kitchen team during peak periods, festivals, and special events.
- Minimise wastage through careful planning, portioning, and use of surplus produce.
- Report any equipment faults, ingredient shortages, or quality concerns promptly to the bakery head.
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
- Minimum 1 year of hands-on experience in a professional bakery or hotel kitchen, specifically in baking breads, tea cakes, and cookies.
- Formal training in bakery and confectionery (diploma or certificate) is preferred but not mandatory — demonstrated skill and passion are equally valued.
- Solid understanding of baking techniques, leavening agents, oven management, and dough handling.
- Familiarity with basic food safety and hygiene practices (FSSAI awareness is an advantage).
- Ability to work early morning shifts and maintain a consistent daily output.
- Reliable, self-motivated, and able to work independently with minimal supervision.
- A genuine love for baking and a pride in producing quality food every single day.

The following form the standard daily production requirement for this role. Candidates should have confident, independent experience in each of these:
Breads: White sandwich loaf, brown/whole wheat loaf, dinner rolls, baguette, sourdough
Tea Cakes: Assorted tea cakes
Cookies: Butter cookies, chocolate chip cookies, oatmeal cookies, shortbread.
Others: Donuts, cinnamon rolls, tarts
Pay: ₹18,000.00 - ₹22,000.00 per month
