We are looking for a motivated Associate Backend Developer (0 to 1 years of experience) to join our growing engineering team. In this role, you will be responsible for building server-side application logic, developing RESTful APIs, and working with relational databases. You will collaborate closely with frontend developers and senior engineers to deliver scalable, secure, and efficient backend solutions using Python, Node.js, SQL, and PostgreSQL.
Key Responsibilities
- API Engineering: Design, build, and maintain high-performing RESTful APIs for web and mobile applications.
- Database Operations: Write efficient SQL queries, design database schemas, and optimize data models in PostgreSQL /MySQL.
- Backend Development: Write clean, readable, and well-structured server-side code using Python (Django / FastAPI /Flask) and/or Node.js (Express.js).
- System Integration: Integrate third-party services, webhooks, and secure authentication/authorization protocols (JWT,OAuth2).
- Debugging & Performance: Identify system bottlenecks, debug server-side issues, and optimize database queries for speed and efficiency.
- Version Control & Testing: Utilize Git for source control, participate in team code reviews, and write unit/integration tests.
Required Skills
- Core Backend Programming: Strong understanding of backend fundamentals in Python or Node.js (JavaScript/TypeScript).
- Relational Databases & SQL: Proficiency in SQL query writing, schema normalization, and working with PostgreSQL or MySQL.
- API Design & Architecture: Clear understanding of RESTful API architecture, HTTP methods, headers, status codes, and JSON handling.
- Software Development Practice: Hands-on experience with version control tools like Git and GitHub/GitLab.
- Computer Science Core: Solid grasp of Object-Oriented Programming (OOP), Data Structures, Algorithms, and basic system security.
Tools and Technologies
- Languages & Runtimes: Python, Node.js (JavaScript / TypeScript)
- Databases & ORMs: PostgreSQL, MySQL, SQL, Prisma, Sequelize, SQLAlchemy, or Django ORM
- API Tools & Middleware: Express.js, FastAPI, Django, Postman, Swagger / OpenAPI
- Version Control & DevOps Basics: Git, GitHub / GitLab, Docker (basic containerization awareness)
- Operating Systems & Tools: Linux / Unix commands, Bash scripting basics
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, or equivalent practical/bootcamp experience.
- Experience: 0 to 1 years of experience in backend development (includes personal projects, academic work, or internships).
- Portfolio/Projects: Demonstrable project portfolio or GitHub repositories featuring backend APIs, database models, or server-side logic.
