We are looking for an experienced and detail-oriented Legal Executive – Legal Metrology to ensure compliance with applicable legal and regulatory requirements.
Job Summary
The Legal Executive will be responsible for ensuring compliance with the Legal Metrology Act, 2009 and related regulations. The role involves handling legal documentation, drafting correspondence, responding to statutory notices, conducting compliance audits, and providing legal support to internal stakeholders.
Key ResponsibilitiesLegal Metrology Compliance
- Ensure compliance with the Legal Metrology Act, 2009 and applicable Legal Metrology Rules.
- Conduct regular audits of weighing and measuring instruments to ensure statutory compliance.
- Coordinate with internal departments to resolve compliance issues and implement corrective actions.
- Monitor and ensure timely completion of inspections, certifications, and regulatory requirements.
Legal Documentation & Drafting
- Draft professional letters, legal notices, replies, and correspondence with government authorities, vendors, and other stakeholders.
- Prepare responses to show cause notices, inspection reports, and statutory communications.
- Assist in preparing documentation required for regulatory inspections and compliance.
Notice Management
- Handle legal notices received from government authorities and ensure timely responses.
- Coordinate with internal teams to collect relevant information and supporting documents.
- Maintain proper follow-up to ensure statutory compliance.
Legal Research & Advisory
- Research legal developments related to Legal Metrology, FMCG regulations, and allied laws.
- Provide legal advice to business teams on compliance matters and risk mitigation.
- Keep management informed about amendments in relevant laws and regulatory requirements.
Training & Compliance Awareness
- Conduct training sessions for employees on Legal Metrology laws and internal compliance procedures.
- Develop awareness initiatives to promote regulatory compliance across departments.
- Support continuous improvement of compliance practices within the organization.
Documentation & Reporting
- Maintain accurate records of legal notices, correspondence, compliance documents, and audit reports.
- Prepare periodic compliance reports for senior management.
- Ensure proper filing and maintenance of all legal records as per statutory requirements.
Eligibility CriteriaEducation
- LL.B. (Bachelor of Laws) from a recognized university.
Experience
- 3–5 years of relevant experience in a legal role.
- Prior experience in Legal Metrology compliance is highly preferred.
- Experience in the FMCG or manufacturing industry will be an added advantage.
- Hands-on experience in handling government notices, legal documentation, and regulatory compliance.
Required Skills
- Strong knowledge of the Legal Metrology Act, 2009 and related regulations.
- Excellent legal drafting, written, and verbal communication skills.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational abilities.
- Ability to work independently as well as with cross-functional teams.
- High attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
Preferred Certification
- Certification in Legal Metrology or a related field will be an added advantage (not mandatory).
