Role Overview:
As a Senior Avionics Hardware Engineer, you will lead the design, development, testing, and validation of avionics hardware systems that are central to flight safety, performance, and reliability. You will work closely with systems, software, flight controls, and certification teams to deliver robust, certifiable avionics solutions for advanced electric aircraft.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the design and development of avionics hardware for eVTOL platforms, including flight control,
navigation, communication, and monitoring systems
- Define avionics hardware architectures and support system-level trade studies
- Own schematic design, component selection, and PCB layout review for safety- and mission-critical systems
- Support hardware bring-up, integration, debugging, and performance optimization
- Plan and execute hardware verification, validation, and qualification testing
- Ensure compliance with aerospace and eVTOL certification standards (e.g., DO-160, DO-254, FAA/EASA
regulations)
- Collaborate with software, systems, mechanical, and test engineering teams for seamless avionics integration
- Support ground testing, HIL/SIL activities, and participate in flight test campaigns
- Analyze test and flight data to improve system reliability and performance
- Prepare and review technical documentation, including design descriptions, test procedures, and compliance
reports
- Provide technical leadership, mentorship, and guidance to junior engineers
- Support production readiness, maintenance, upgrades, and in-service avionics systems
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Electronics, Avionics, or Aerospace Engineering
- 7+ years of experience in avionics hardware design and development
- Strong understanding of analog and digital circuit design principles
- Proven experience with avionics hardware systems from concept to certification
- Experience with avionics communication protocols (ARINC 429/664, CAN, MIL-STD-1553, SPI, I²C, UART)
- Proficiency with schematic capture and PCB design tools (e.g., Altium, OrCAD, Cadence)
- Hands-on experience with hardware testing, debugging, and troubleshooting
- Ability to read and interpret complex electrical schematics and technical documentation
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, startup-style environment and meet aggressive development timelines
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in Electrical, Avionics, or Aerospace Engineering
- Experience with eVTOL, electric propulsion, or fly-by-wire systems
- Knowledge of EMI/EMC, thermal, vibration, and environmental testing
- Familiarity with FPGA, microcontroller, or SoC-based avionics designs
- Experience supporting certification activities with FAA, EASA, or equivalent authorities
- Prior experience mentoring engineers or leading technical work packages
