OT Technician
Department: Operation Theatre (OT)
Reports To: OT Manager
Job Summary
The OT Technician is responsible for preparing and maintaining the operation theatre, assisting surgeons, anaesthetists, and nursing staff during surgical procedures, ensuring the availability and proper functioning of surgical instruments and equipment, and maintaining strict infection control standards.
Key Responsibilities
· Prepare the operation theatre before surgical procedures.
· Sterilize, arrange, and maintain surgical instruments, equipment, and supplies.
· Assist surgeons, anesthetists, and OT nurses during operations.
· Ensure all OT equipment is functional and report any faults immediately.
· Maintain aseptic techniques and infection control protocols at all times.
· Assist in patient positioning and safe transfer before and after surgery.
· Monitor and replenish OT consumables and surgical supplies.
· Clean and disinfect the operation theatre after each procedure.
· Maintain accurate records of sterilization, equipment maintenance, and OT inventory.
· Ensure proper biomedical waste segregation and disposal as per hospital policies.
· Respond promptly during emergency surgeries and trauma cases.
· Follow hospital safety policies, NABH guidelines, and departmental SOPs.
· Coordinate with the CSSD and other departments for instrument availability and sterilization.
Qualifications
· Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Operation Theatre Technology (OTT) or equivalent from a recognized institution.
· Registration Certification
Experience
1–3 years of experience in a hospital operation theatre is preferred.
Required Skills
· Knowledge of surgical instruments and OT procedures.
· Understanding of sterilization and infection control practices.
· Basic knowledge of anesthesia equipment.
· Ability to work under pressure and in emergency situations.
· Good communication and teamwork skills.
· Strong attention to detail and organizational abilities.
· Professional, ethical, and patient-focused attitude.
Working Conditions:
· Rotational shifts, weekends, nights, and public holidays as per hospital requirements.
· Availability for emergency and on-call duties.
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
· Timely OT preparation before scheduled surgeries.
· Compliance with infection control and sterilization protocols.
· Zero preventable instrument or equipment-related delays.
· Accuracy in OT inventory and documentation.
· Adherence to hospital policies and patient safety standards.
· Effective coordination with surgeons, anesthetists, nursing staff, and CSSD.
Pay: ₹10,000.00 - ₹15,000.00 per month
