Senior Full-Stack Software Engineer (SDE II), Flutter & Django, AM:PM
About AM:PM AM:PM is a pre-seed, venture-backed news platform built for short-form vertical video, for Gen Z and millennials who want to stay informed without sitting through a 40-minute panel. Mobile-first, video-first, small team, moving at startup speed out of Mumbai.
We don't have layers of bureaucracy or rigid corporate structure. We value velocity, high-agency execution, and pragmatic engineering. This is one of the first full-time seats on the core engineering bench, reporting directly to the CTO.
We're looking for a Full-Stack Engineer who's comfortable wearing multiple hats, owning entire feature lifecycles from database schema to UI animation, and operating with real autonomy. If you want your code in production daily and directly tied to whether the product wins, this is the seat.

What you'll do
1. Cross-platform frontend (Flutter)
- Build responsive, pixel-perfect UIs across iOS, Android, and Web from a single Flutter codebase
- Implement clean, maintainable frontend architecture using scalable state management (BLoC, Riverpod, or Provider)
- Optimize performance, memory footprint, render times, and smooth 60fps animations on low-end devices and browsers. On a feed-heavy, video-heavy app this is core product, not polish
- Write platform-specific code (MethodChannels) to interface with native iOS/Android SDKs when needed
2. Backend and API engineering (Python / Django)
- Design, build, and document secure, robust RESTful APIs using Django Rest Framework
- Architect core backend workflows, background workers, and async task queues (Celery/Redis), including the feed, video, and content pipeline
- Write optimized SQL and manage the Django ORM to prevent N+1 queries and keep response times fast
- Implement and maintain security: OAuth2, JWT auth, RBAC, data encryption
3. Architecture, DevOps, infrastructure
- Set up and improve CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions, GitLab CI) to ship to production multiple times a day
- Containerize with Docker and manage cloud deployments (AWS ECS/EKS, GCP Cloud Run, or DigitalOcean)
- Implement logging, error tracking, and monitoring (Sentry, Datadog, Prometheus) to catch and resolve production issues proactively
4. Startup execution
- Build, test, and tear down MVP features fast based on user feedback and product analytics
- Review peer code, maintain documentation, and raise engineering standards across a growing team
- Work directly with founders, designers, and editorial to turn ambiguous requirements into concrete technical roadmaps
Who you are
- 3+ years professional experience building, scaling, and maintaining production-grade applications
- Deep Flutter and Dart mastery: cross-platform nuances, web engine optimization (CanvasKit vs HTML), local storage (Hive, Isar, or SQLite)
- Strong Django/Python: middleware, custom managers, signals, async programming
- Advanced PostgreSQL: clean schema design, migrations, indexing, slow query analysis
- Docker, basic Linux administration, and cloud services (AWS S3, EC2, RDS, CloudFront)
- Writes clean, testable code with unit, integration, and widget tests

- Pragmatic. You know when to write future-proof code and when to ship a safe, hacky solution to beat a deadline
- Clear communicator. Can explain technical trade-offs to non-technical founders

- Deep startup experience strongly preferred, ideally as an early engineer at a venture-backed startup. This role rewards builders, not MNC process operators
