Job Summary
A Halwai is responsible for preparing Indian sweets, desserts, and traditional snacks while maintaining quality, taste, hygiene, and presentation standards. The role supports hotel restaurants, banquets, weddings, and special events.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare a variety of Indian sweets such as laddoo, gulab jamun, rasgulla, jalebi, barfi, peda, and halwa.
- Prepare traditional desserts and festive sweet items.
- Ensure consistency in taste, texture, and presentation.
- Measure and mix ingredients according to recipes and hotel standards.
- Monitor cooking temperatures and preparation processes.
- Maintain cleanliness and hygiene in the work area.
- Store ingredients and finished products properly.
- Assist in planning dessert menus for events and banquets.
- Minimize food wastage and control inventory usage.
- Follow food safety and hygiene regulations.
Required Skills
- Expertise in Indian sweet and dessert preparation.
- Knowledge of ingredients, recipes, and cooking techniques.
- Ability to work efficiently under pressure.
- Attention to quality and detail.
- Knowledge of food safety and sanitation standards.
- Teamwork and time-management skills.
Qualifications
- Experience as a Halwai in hotels, restaurants, sweet shops, or catering units.
- Formal culinary training is beneficial but not always required.
- Knowledge of large-scale food production is an advantage.
Typical Duties During a Shift
- Prepare ingredients and cooking materials.
- Cook and prepare sweets according to production requirements.
- Decorate and present finished products.
- Maintain cleanliness of kitchen and equipment.
- Monitor stock levels and report shortages.
- Support banquet and special event dessert production.
Pay: ₹25,000.00 - ₹35,000.00 per month
