The EEE Lab Instructor is responsible for assisting faculty members in conducting laboratory sessions, maintaining laboratory equipment, ensuring compliance with safety standards, and supporting students in developing practical skills in electrical and electronics engineering. The instructor plays a key role in the smooth functioning of departmental laboratories and contributes to creating a safe and effective learning environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare laboratory equipment, instruments, and materials before each practical session.
- Assist faculty members during laboratory classes and demonstrations.
- Guide students in the proper use of electrical and electronic instruments, tools, and software.
- Ensure that all laboratory experiments are conducted safely and in accordance with departmental procedures.
- Maintain, calibrate, troubleshoot, and perform minor repairs on laboratory equipment.
- Keep laboratories clean, organized, and fully operational.
- Maintain records of laboratory equipment, consumables, maintenance schedules, and inventory.
- Monitor laboratory attendance and assist in evaluating students' practical performance when required.
- Ensure compliance with electrical safety standards and institutional laboratory policies.
- Coordinate procurement of laboratory equipment, tools, and consumables as directed by the department.
- Support project work, mini-projects, and final-year projects involving laboratory facilities.
- Assist in accreditation activities, laboratory documentation, audits, and statutory inspections.
- Prepare laboratory manuals, equipment registers, stock registers, and maintenance records.
- Report equipment faults and maintenance requirements to the Head of the Department promptly.
- Assist in organizing technical workshops, exhibitions, seminars, and departmental events.
Required Qualifications
- Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering (EEE) or a related discipline.
- Relevant laboratory or industrial experience is preferred.
- Fresh candidates with strong practical knowledge may also apply.
Required Skills
- Sound knowledge of electrical machines, power electronics, control systems, electrical measurements, and basic electronics.
- Hands-on experience with laboratory instruments such as multimeters, oscilloscopes, power supplies, function generators, and electrical testing equipment.
- Basic troubleshooting and equipment maintenance skills.
- Knowledge of electrical wiring, protection systems, and laboratory safety practices.
- Familiarity with computer applications such as Microsoft Office and laboratory-related software.
- Good communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with faculty, students, and technical staff.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in AICTE/University laboratory compliance and documentation.
- Knowledge of simulation software such as MATLAB/Simulink, PSIM, ETAP, or similar engineering tools.
- Certification in electrical safety or industrial training is an added advantage.
Working Conditions
- Full-time position based in the Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering.
- May be required to support laboratory sessions, examinations, project evaluations, workshops, and departmental activities beyond regular class hours when necessary.
